Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) EDWARD CLAYDON
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William 'Bill' Claydon, who departed peacefully in his sleep at age 81. Born in Winnipeg to Harry and Eva Claydon, Bill was a devoted husband to his late wife Diane, a loving father to Curtis (Lorrie), Kerry, and his late daughter Tracy (Bruce) Huynen, and was a beloved granddad to Hailey, Somer, and Brooke.
An adventurer at heart, he enjoyed travelling south and exploring local cultures, and spent summers at the Star Lake cottage, foraging for wild mushrooms to bring to Diane for family meals. Known for his skills as a handyman and his "Dad jokes", Bill's kindness, humor, and smile left a lasting mark on everyone he met.
Bill spent his entire career in the field of human resources, working for the Civil Service Commission and Department of Education with the Province of Manitoba, and retired after many years as the Director of Human Resources at Red River College.
Predeceased by his wife of 50 years Diane Claydon, daughter Tracy Huynen, brothers Jim and Harry Claydon, brother-in-law Elmer Tataryn, and sister-in-law Barbara Cooke.
Left to cherish his memory and tell his story are son Curtis (Lorrie) Claydon, granddaughters Hailey, Somer, and Brooke, daughter Kerry Claydon, son-in-law Bruce Huynen, sisters-in-law Edna and Carol Claydon, Debbie Lamoureux, Irene (Eric) Bechert, Johanna Tataryn, brother-in-law Gord Cooke, companion Claudette Campbell, and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 11:00 am on December 7, 2024 at EJ Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald St., Winnipeg.
Dad's legacy of laughter, generosity, and love of nature will stay in our hearts forever.

Uncle Bill was the funniest man I ever met. It was hard for me to keep up with him. As a boy, when I was having the joke explained to me by my father, Billy was already on to the next one. the little sarcastic comments flew every time I spoke to him. What a joy it was to know this man. He will be missed. The world needs more men like him. I'll find some photos of him as a little boy and bring them to Winnipeg for the celebration of life. - Posted by: james claydon (nephew) on: Nov 28, 2024

Bill Claydon was my Uncle Bill, the husband of my dear Auntie Diane, and he filled any gathering with good humour and outright laughter. His commitment to his family was always evident, from the time spent at the lake to the BBQs and mushroom-foraging hunts. He had the rare quality of being somebody who was pretty much impossible to dislike - friendly to all, light-hearted, honest and hard-working. He will be profoundly missed, but his impact on others will endure. - Posted by: Lynsey Bechert (niece) on: Nov 18, 2024
