Our Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg and proudly served her country as a Leading Wren in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII. She married in 1946 and among her accomplishments in a life well-lived, she raised four daughters.
Mom was the sole provider for her family, often working two jobs as a waitress to make ends meet. Her strong work ethic and warm personality ensured her success. Mom attended Red River College and attained her diploma in food service. She worked at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre for many years before looking for her next adventure. She moved to New Zealand to take up a position at the Wellington Hospital, eventually returning to Canada and retiring from the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton. Mom loved to travel and made many trips to Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Scotland as well as many road trips throughout Canada and the USA.
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." Mark Twain
Our mother was a woman of strong faith, a hard worker and tolerant of all people. Values she instilled in her family. We will miss her greatly.
In honour of her wishes, Beryl's ashes will be privately interred at Brookside Cemetery, Winnipeg.

My brother Barry, and myself would like to pass on our condolences to you and your family. We were very surprised when we read the obituary today as we have always wondered how your family was doing. Your mom sure lived a long and rewarding life and we certainly remember her from Walden Crescent and know we have never forgotten any of your family. - Posted by: Tanis Goretzki (Tuckett) (Old friends ) on: Nov 23, 2024
