It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Brian Watson on November 25, 2024, at the age of 75. We are broken-hearted but forever grateful for the time we had with him.
Ron is survived by his wife Margo; his children, David, Kristen; and stepchildren, Laura, Lyndsey, Matthew; along with their spouses and his beloved grandchildren. Also mourning his loss are his siblings, Gary, Jim, Sue, and Karen who always appreciated Ron’s ability to keep them connected. Ron was predeceased by his father Ken and his mother Muriel.
Ron was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 5, 1949. He graduated from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba in 1972. Ron served as the Chair of the Manitoba Heavy Construction Association from 1993 to 1994. The highlight of Ron’s career was moving to Victoria, BC to work on Vancouver Island.
Ron’s favourite pastime was spending weekends at the cottage with family and friends. He enjoyed many years at Caddy Lake and Sioux Narrows and took pride in improving and maintaining his properties. His happy place was out on the water in his boat. Ron always said that Sioux Narrows has the best people!
Ron had a lifelong passion for sports. He was a dedicated Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan and rarely missed watching a game.
Ron was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 2014, but he persevered and lived life to the fullest. Ron deeply cared about his loved ones. He was the jack of all trades and was always available to offer a helping hand to others. Ron spent countless hours working at the houses of his children and stepchildren. Despite having the biggest heart, it was his heart that failed him in the end.
A Celebration of Life service will take place in the near future.

Margo, I was so sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. He was one of the ones who hired me 31 years ago at MHCA. He became a mentor, advocate and friend. I will remember him with great fondness. - Posted by: Wendy Summerfield (Associate and friend) on: Dec 11, 2024

I remember Ron as a wonderful friend back in the 60’s/70’s…..very caring, personable, and genuine. Regret not keeping in touch since high school/university days but happy to know he had a happy and successful personal and professional life. 💛 - Posted by: Cheryl Norton (Old high school friend from VMCI) on: Dec 07, 2024
