Susan, I will always remember Dave as a reserved and knowledgeable person whose life changed when he met you- his happiness when you found each other was something he shared with us all. I am glad you will have so many happy memories to hold you until you meet again. Shirley Adam - Posted by: Shirley Adam (School Colleague and Friend) on: Dec 10, 2024

I first met Mr. Wellard in September 1970 at St. John's Ravenscourt School, where I was a boarder. It was my first year in boarding school and I was very homesick. Mr. Wellard was very kind and understanding and he helped me ease into my new surroundings. He introduced cross-country skiing to SJR and he helped grow the sport in Manitoba. He was a very organized history teacher, who encouraged his students to take careful notes and to read and write book reports. These were always carefully and precisely reviewed and graded. He cared about his students and he wanted to prepare us for our future endeavours. A true gentleman. - Posted by: Roland Yves Cantin (Student) on: Dec 08, 2024

Mr. Wellard's leadership and energy was instrumental in starting and growing cross country skiing at S.J.R and throughout Manitoba in the 1970's. I and many others owe him a great deal for introducing us to the sport in our youth. I will remember him when I'm out on the trails this winter - Posted by: Ivan McMorris (Former student ) on: Dec 08, 2024
