LINDA CWIAK

May 11, 1956 - December 8, 2024

Following a hard fought and very brave four year battle with cancer, Linda Cwiak peacefully passed away in the early morning of Sunday, December 8, 2024, at St. Boniface Hospital.

Linda is survived by her husband and best friend of 48 years, Ron Cwiak; her daughter Melissa (Olli) Hyytiainen; her son David (Stacie) Cwiak; her grandgirls, Pinja and Siiri; her grandboys Parker and Owen; and her granddogs, Layla and Izzy. Her grandcat cares not to be mentioned.

She is also survived by her sisters, Janet and Eileen (Yvon); nieces, Aline, Pascale (Cory) with son Beauden, Gabrielle (Animesh); and nephew Eric (Jordan). She will be remembered by her friends and extended family including Ron's sister and brothers, their families, cousins, and many others that called her Auntie Linda.

Linda was predeceased by her parents, John and Anne Krywokulsky, and her parents through marriage, Walter and Anne Cwiak.

In 1982, Ron and Linda went into business together, with him working the tools and her doing the books. What started as Cwiak Mobile Welding eventually became Arcweld Industries Inc. She spent much of her time at the shop in Transcona working in the office and playing in her huge garden.

Linda loved the family cabin in Belair. It was her happy place. It was where she cooked her best meals and spent quality time with Ron, her kids, and grandkids. We are so thankful that she was well enough to cook one more Thanksgiving Dinner at the cabin.

A Celebration of Linda's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 18, 2024, at the Holy Eucharist Parish Centre, 460 Munroe Avenue.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Linda was a wonderful person. She was a genuine soul and I was lucky to know her. Linda was a good listener and I benefited greatly from her parenting and relationship advice. Her advice was always subtle and simple. My favorites were, Change is good, Donkey and "Relationships are hard work but worth it." I'm so lucky to have had her in my life. I remember the time I brought a Dairy Queen Blizzard to Linda not knowing that dairy and she didn't get along so well. When I saw her next, she spoke about how much she enjoyed it but paid for it later. I also remember the look Ron gave me and hope I earned his forgiveness through Saskatoon pies. To her family, I want to express my deepest Condolences. Linda's warmth and wisdom touched everyone she met and her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration. May you find strength in each other and in the wonderful memories you shared with her. -Dave. - Posted by: David Franklin (Friend) on: Dec 17, 2024
