OLGA ANNIE SKRYBALO

(NAUMKO)

1934 - 2024

It is with profound sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of Olga Skrybalo on December 14 at Middlechurch Home. Olga was born on January 7, 1934 to Jefrem and Katherine Naumko. She was predeceased by her husband Steve in January, 2023.

Left to mourn her passing are her children and their families: daughter Sharon (Rob) and their daughters, Kristen (Jordan) with great-grandchildren, Olivia and James, Melissa (Lyndon) and Lauren; son Gary and his children, Ronelle and Tyson. She also leaves her younger sister Ellen.

Olga grew up and went to school in the North End from grades 1 to 8 at Norquay School. The family then moved to Sherbrook Street where she attended Mulvey and Gordon Bell schools where she excelled as a student. She went on to university where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduation she began working at Great West Life in their actuarial department until she left to raise a family.

Olga met the love of her life, Steve, in 1955. In 1960 she married Steve and a few years later they bought a home on Roberta Avenue where they lived for 55 years.

Olga and Steve enjoyed special family vacations including camping, Lake of the Woods, Disneyland and Disneyworld. They appreciated their many groups of friends including lake friends, hockey parents and Rossmere Golf & Country Club. They also enjoyed travelling to Mazatlan, Las Vegas and the Shooting Star Casino to name a few of their favourites.

Olga enjoyed her monthly lunches with the CN ladies’ group which took her to various restaurants across the city. She also enjoyed curling in the EK Ladies’ league at Rossmere, was an amazing cook and loved to bake some of her favourites for family and friends. She and Steve took great pride in keeping their yard immaculate with beautiful flowers and vegetable garden. She never failed to admire the flowers in other yards, whether out for a walk or driving in the car.

Olga was a proud wife, mother and grandmother. She always enjoyed stories from, and about her kids and grandkids who were her pride and joy. This made family get togethers all that much more special.

Mom, along with Dad, gave all of us their precious time, support and love. We were fortunate to have them cheering us on in all of our sports, activities and life events.

Thank you to the nurses and staff on N2 at Middlechurch Home for the wonderful care and support provided for her entire time there, especially during her last few days.

As per her wishes, there will not be a service. Cremation has taken place.
