LAWRENCE BIALEK

1936 - 2024

It is with complete and total sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Lawrence Bialek, husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather.

Eighty-eight years ago, Lawrence was one of 10 children born to Julian and Caroline Bialek. Predeceased following 59 years of marriage to the love of his life – wife Joan passed in 2019; sisters, Mary (Steve), Adeline (Nick); brothers, Edward (Vicky), John (Rosalia), Bobby (Violet), and Casey. He leaves to mourn his daughter Shelley and husband Baldar; grandson Dane (Amara and Erica); his sisters, Helen (Victor), Kathy (Lawrence) and Betty (Stanley); along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Early on dad and mom moved to Winnipeg to begin their new married lives together. Working for Dominion Bridge, travelling was inevitable from Emerson to Churchill and to the east and west. When he decided travelling was too hard on his family he began his second career with Canada Post, eventually retiring at 65 years of age. Among their 30 plus trips to Waikiki, they also had family vacations in Portugal, Florida and Mexico.

The family would like to thank his homecare providers and the hospital staff at St Boniface Hospital for their compassionate care during his difficult times.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral prayer service will be held on January 3, 2025, 10:00 a.m., at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
