Passed away suddenly, but peacefully, on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Harvest Crossing, Tillsonburg, “Trudy” Gertrude Mae (Amirault) Konopetski, formerly of RR1 Delhi at the age of 90. Born in Nova Scotia, daughter of the late Albert and Mary (LeBlanc) Amirault.
Predeceased by her much loved husband of 58 years, Ret. RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) Major John Stanley Konopetski (July 24, 2017). Much loved mother of “Jim” James John Konopetski of Woodstock and partner Susan O’Quinn of London. Much loved “Grammy” of Daniel, Benjamin and Adam. Survived by sisters-in-law, Helen and Edith, several nieces, nephews, godchildren and cousins. Predeceased by her siblings, Mabel, Earle, Ulysse, Raymond, Norman and Annette.
Trudy travelled overseas during her brief military service and met John when stationed in France. He was also in the RCAF. They married in 1958 in Winnipeg, and son Jim arrived the following year, when Trudy left the service. During John’s 37-year RCAF career, they travelled to Europe and across Canada. After his retirement, they explored many continents of the world. Trudy enjoyed her many years of dedication and involvement at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Langton, daily masses, choir, and her Sacred Heart CWL membership. Trudy also enjoyed partaking in many years of meetings and events with the Langton Women’s Institute and she was also a loyal volunteer for several years at Caressant Care, Courtland. Fiercely proud of her Acadian heritage, Trudy had a big heart, a strong spirit, and was loved by all around her.
