David was a member of our farm family. He grew up on the farm after his mother died and was a presence here most of his life, He worked with my dad, who was his cousin, then myself and my brother. David, Gail, Ted and later Sarah, spent many summers here. We built barns and graineries as well as regular farm work .Also we would go on hunting and fishing trips. He had a great sense of humour and liked to laugh. I could talk to David about anything. He is greatly missed. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Jamie Munroe (Cousin) on: Jan 13, 2025

I have a very high level of admiration and respect for Dave. I was a direct report of his in the early 1990’s when he was in Souris. I felt that Dave took me under his wings in those early days of branch management, sharing insights that were work and life related. Dave loved to use and teach us words that were unique and seldom used. We had lots in common, especially as it pertained to the outdoors with quads, motorcycles and so forth. He cared about me and took the time to help me along on my RBC journey. My sincere condolences to Jude and to the families. I will miss Dave Stratton. - Posted by: Keith Wiebe (RBC friend) on: Jan 11, 2025

So sorry to hear of Uncle David's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. Time and life do not always allow folks to maintain close connections. - Posted by: Lyla Smith (Niece) on: Jan 07, 2025

David was kind. I remember that he came and helped Murray and me clean out 74 Thatcher Drive in Winnipeg after Ted died. It was a very hard time and we appreciated his presence and support. 74 Thatcher was Ted and Mary’s family home that Murray grew up in. Mary was his oldest sister. - Posted by: Gay-Lynn Beighton (Wife of David’s nephew Murray Beighton) on: Jan 05, 2025

Dave Gail Elaine and I were friends ''way back'' when Gail passed. He and I worked in systems together bringing branches up to date. Dave was a scholar -as was his dad and he was very precise with his reports and we spent numerous times on the road discussing the world over a pint or two. We never had the pleasure of meeting Jude or family as he moved to an acreage after retirement an didn’t seem to have much contact with fellow retirees but he really enjoyed his family retirement life on the farm. We have many fond memories of our times together. -Elaine and Scotty - Posted by: DAVID(SCOTTY)AN ELAINE MCLAREN (LONG TIME FRIENDS) on: Jan 05, 2025

SO, SAD TO HEAR DAVID PASSED. MY CONDOLENCES TO JUDE AND DAVE’S FAMILY. DAVID AND I WERE “GOOD BUDS” SINCE WE MET IN CARTWRIGHT, MB IN THE 50s. WE HUNTED RABBITS ALMOST EVERY SUNDAY, SUMMER AND WINTER, FOR SEVERAL YEARS. DAVE WAS A GUN ENTHUSIAST TO SAY THE LEAST. WE REMAINED BUDS AFTER BOTH OF US LEFT CARTWRIGHT AND MARRIED. MY WIFE, DOROTHY, AND I WERE A CLOSE FRIENDS OF DAVE AND GAIL “GILBEAR” FOR YEARS. DAVE MOVED AROUND ALOT WITH THE BANK. I RETURN FROM THE USA AND I KNEW DAVE LIVED IN FRANKLIN NEAR NEEPAWA SO DROVE UP THAT WAY TO SEARCH FOR HIM, ONLY TO FIND HE HAD MOVE TO LAKE FOREST NEAR GIMLI, WHICH WAS ONLY 5 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE IN LOCK WOODS. WE HAD A GOOD LAUGH ABOUT THAT WHEN WE RECONNECTED IN FOREST PARK WHERE I MET JUDE AS WELL. UNFORTUNATELY, COVID SEPARATED US AGAIN. I SEARCHED FOR DAVE AND JUDE AFTER THEY MOVED FROM FOREST PARK BUT COULD NOT FIND THEM BEFORE DAVE PASSED. I WILL TRULY MISS YOU DAVE, AND ALL YOUR WEIRD SAYINGS AND JOKES, BUT I AM THANKFUL FOR THE MEMORIES OF US. REST IN PEACE, BUDDY!! I WILL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE, ONE DAY.
