Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • Jill, Mark and Jenny - I am so sad to hear of George's passing. It is heart-warming to remember those weekends when your family came out to our little farm and pitched a tent and we played games, barbecued good food, and laughed and laughed together. How many games of Password did we do - and the Scottish accent always a source of humour - and how many old golf balls did we hit over the fence? George was such a good friend, and so helpful to me in my early career. But the quick wit, unforgettable voice and accent, and characteristic pipe will always be in my memory. God Bless your family as you move forward. - Posted by: Herman de Vries (Friend) on: Jan 10, 2025

  • To Jill and family. We were sorry to hear of George’s passing. We fondly remember spending time with both of you on the golf course and in Guayabitos. His sense of humour had everyone laughing. May you feel God’s peace at this time as you spend your days in memories of fun times. Love John and Donna Driedger - Posted by: John and Donna Driedger (Friends) on: Jan 10, 2025

  • I had the pleasure of meeting George at Marvelous Meadows and golfing with him and Jill a few times. I enjoyed their company as George always provided some humor and stories. My condolences to Jill and family. - Posted by: Barry Stamper (friend ) on: Jan 10, 2025

  • During my 4 years at ACU I had frequent contact with George, a fast-witted man with a terrific sense of humour. I can still see him with his ever-present pipe and can hear his Scottish voice. I wish his family and close friends peace as they recall countless stories and fond memories of George. - Posted by: Lsrry Larke (Co-worker) on: Jan 09, 2025

  • George was a wonderful guy. I had the pleasure and honour of working with George in the late 70s in Winnipeg at Manitoba Credit Union Central. George was a strong, funny, and consistently generous mentor and boss. Even when he had his own problems, he was nevertheless always supportive and kind to others. I have cherished my memories of George over the years, and I will continue to do so. My most sincere heartfelt condolences to his family. - Posted by: Kenton Eggleston (Former co-worker) on: Jan 06, 2025

  • Our sincere condolences Jill, to you and your family. So sad to hear of George’s passing. A good friend. I will always remember our daily conversations as we rode together to work for many years. And most special of all, our annual golf trips where we had so much fun. Keep swinging George, and if you are missing your nine iron, Terry probably has it! 😊 - Posted by: Garry Mitchell (Friend ) on: Jan 06, 2025

  • George will be dearly missed. We will miss having coffee with him and playing Skipbo. He loved his golf and all the friends he had at Marvellous Meadows. • Jill, we are very sorry to hear about George passing. We will remember him fondly, partly for his sense of humour and love of golf and his famous saying… ”pretty good for 84 right”. Hit ‘em straight George….. - Posted by: Debbie and Ken Macleod (Friend) on: Jan 04, 2025
