We are deeply saddened to announce that, with family by his side, Gordon Peter Marchuk passed away on December 19, 2024.
Gordon was a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, who was predeceased by his beloved wife Doreen, his parents, Katherine and Peter, and his brother Harry. He leaves behind a legacy enriched by love and laughter and will be profoundly missed by his sons, D'Arcy (Charlotte), Darryl (Tracy), and Jason; his sister Diane; and a wide circle of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Gordon grew up in Bird’s Hill, Manitoba and had many fond memories of country living. As an adult, Gordon moved with his wife Doreen to the community of Tyndall Park in Winnipeg. It was here that Gordon's entrepreneurial spirit shone through with the founding of Royale TV Service in the 1970s. Many from the community will remember him from those days as their friendly TV repairman, while others will remember him from the days of community club hockey in the 1970s and 1980s, and the Tyndall Park Hornets. Many days were spent at the rinks with his boys, both as a supportive parent and for a time as a coach. His passion for sports was contagious, and it continued later in life as he supported his grandchildren in their many sporting activities. Family adventures were often spent camping at Wallace Lake and Gull Lake, and his fervor for horse racing at The Downs, as well as NFL and NHL games - particularly cheering for the Winnipeg Jets - was unparalleled. Later in life, Gordon found fulfillment as a truck driver, where he was able to enjoy his independence and developed many lasting friendships. Gordon's appreciation for nature was evident in his tranquil walks through Kildonan Park. His warmth and kindness touched many lives, and his generous spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
According to his wishes, a private Celebration of Life was held on January 11, 2025.
