LARRY THEODORE KIZIAK

April 22, 1952- January 7, 2025

There are truly no words to express the profound heartbreak as we announce the passing of our cherished son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Larry was surrounded by his wife, son, daughter and sister-in-law Barb, while in McAllen, Texas.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Kathy, son Kevin (Allison), daughter Jenn (Bryan) and precious grandchildren Archer, Aurora and Kieran. Mourning his loss are his beloved mother Dorothy Kiziak, sister Linda (Jim), Kathy (Dean), extended family and countless friends. Larry is predeceased by his father, Emil Kiziak.

Larry grew up in River Heights, where he made many lifelong friends. Larry had a love for speed and learned many skills from his dad including working on cars and motorcycles, of which he had many. He always seemed to have a project on the go!

From his time at Hydro, the Van Club, Good Year, and then at Honda, Larry made countless friends, many of whom he was still in contact with. When Larry began to work at Honda, he made so many connections, building strong working relationships and turning those connections into true friendships. He was a stellar District Sales Manager, providing a beautiful life for his family because of it. His time at Honda allowed him to have new cars, motorcycles and all the toys. Even after retirement, Larry kept busy by helping out his friends in Pine Falls. He was a longtime member of the MSRA. Larry's love of cars was celebrated each year as he and Kevin travelled to Back to the 50s. He shared his love of motorcycles with Jenn, taking rides and going for ice cream. He adored music, always listening to great classic rock and collecting guitars, more than actually playing them!

Larry was always there for anyone and everyone, especially his kids. He was quick to lend a helping hand for projects, like building a deck or working on a car. He was an eager babysitter to the grandkids, so long as he didn't have to change a diaper! Larry was always the life of the party, making everyone feel welcomed and giving big hugs. You could always expect a good laugh, an amazing friend and the pickiest eater you'd ever met!

Larry married the love of his life, Kathy (nee Grace) in September of 1978. Together they created a wonderful life full of love and adventure including traveling all over the world. Larry always joked that he was busy spending the kids' inheritance, each time a trip was booked for Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica and the many other trips they took. Summers were spent at the lake in Lac du Bonnet, cruising in the pontoon boat and fishing with the grandkids. Kathy and Larry escaped the cold, spending winters in Texas, where they would soak up the sun and enjoy happy hour with friends. It was in Texas where he spent his last days, golfing with Kathy and friends.

Larry leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. His time on earth was so well spent, but far too short. A Celebration of Life will be held in Spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (17 entries)

  • I met Larry many years ago through the MSRA. We always had good times together, lots of laughs, and a beer or nine. Travelling with Larry and Kevin to Back to the 50's was always a hoot. He was a good guy, and we will miss him. We will miss him a lot. Barb & Rob Rose. - Posted by: ROB ROSE (friend) on: May 03, 2025

  • So sorry to hear for your loss. Thinking of you during this difficult time in life. - Posted by: Vicky & Rob Bell (Friend) on: Jan 23, 2025

  • I had the good fortune to work with Larry at Honda Canada for many years. It was an amazing era of crazy workloads interspersed with fun times and laughter. Always the calm and collected one in the group, quick witted and timely with the jokes. Larry was very intelligent, hard working, salt-of-the-earth and quick with that laugh. I’m grateful to have shared time with Larry and will hold his memory until we meet again. My deepest condolences to Kathy, family and friends. RIP Larry. - Posted by: Don Zaharia (Friend from Honda) on: Jan 22, 2025

  • Shocking to hear this news. In this life, there are givers and takers and Larry was one of the greatest givers you could ever be fortunate enough to meet. I guess Billy Joel was right when he sang "Only the Good Die Young"! Heaven's Car Club just got themselves a great addition. Heartfelt condolences to Kathy, Kevin, Jenn and the rest of the family. Although Larry is gone, the impact on so many lives that he touched remains. - Posted by: Ken Muzik (friend) on: Jan 20, 2025

  • Larry was our daughters neighbour. He was a true neighbour to her. He helped her when she was outside and always friendly. Last memory Sarah had was before Christmas it snowed and Sarah said that Larry plowed her snow cause he did not want her to get stuck. The thoughtfulness of Larry is beyond. We will Miss the waves each time we visit and Sarah will Sure miss the helpfulness and the kindness he showed. Rest in peace Larry 🙏🏼 Donna and Michael Rossol - Posted by: Michael and Donna Rossol (Friend, neighbour) on: Jan 19, 2025

  • My heart is breaking for you & your family Kathy. I have so many memories of Larry and you during his career with Honda. Marcel & Larry met at work in 1987? And they became fast friends. The Honda Christmas parties were epic! You had the best life with him…. We will all miss his sense of humour & love of being alive. Take care of yourselves…. Love Kerry & family ❤️❤️ - Posted by: Kerry (Friend) on: Jan 19, 2025

  • Kathy and Family, we love you and share your grief. Larry was the best friend and neighbor anyone could ever have in fact that is why he was our neighbor in Lac Du Bonnet and Texas. Not a day will go by that we will not think of Larry and all the wonderful memories we have of time together. Larry was a true legend for all the people he touched and helped without ever asking for anything in return. We will think of him with every stroke of golf, every time we look at your cabin, every time we are with our shared friends in Texas, every time David builds something now without his help. Thank you Larry you made our life better and we will hold him in our memories for ever - Posted by: David & Diana Oakes (friends) on: Jan 19, 2025

  • I met Larry at Honda where we worked together for 20+ years. He was a team player, hard worker, love to have fun and a beer when we got the chance, just an all around great guy. Was an honor and pleasure to know him.  Our sincerest condolences Kathy and family  Bob Butler / Vici McParlan  Burnaby, BC - Posted by: Bob Butler (Co worker / Freind) on: Jan 19, 2025

  • My most sincere sympathy on losing Larry. The news was shocking and I truly know how hard it must be for all the family. He was such a nice man, always smiling and happy. He was just over here this fall checking out Rick's shop and truck. And I had a heartfelt message from Larry just weeks ago upon Rick's passing. I hope the two of them are having a heavenly visit now. Take care of each other. Thinking of all of you at this sad time. - Posted by: Shirley Sokol (Friend) on: Jan 18, 2025

  • Kathy and family, I am so sorry for your tremendous loss. I didn’t know Larry really well, but I always felt I knew him better, through all the stories of your family friendships with Graham & Susan, and Barb & Jim over the years. May you be comforted by your many precious memories in the days and years ahead. Ginny - Posted by: Ginny Brown (Family friend) on: Jan 18, 2025

  • Beautifully written as it is, this obituary still does not even begin to convey the “mentra” of just how truly an exceptional man that Larry was. Jean and I visited with Larry and Kathy in McAllen a number of years ago and were treated as if we were friends and had know them all of our lives. Regrettably our paths only crossed during Larry’s time at Honda but what a time it was. Larry put his whole heart into his work at Honda the results of which were exceptional. Larry ploughed a very wide furrow in both his business life and his personal life and will be missed immeasurably - he will be remembered always. Our deepest condolences to Kathy and the family. • Rest in peace Larry. I remember your laugh like if it was yesterday. It was always a great to see Larry at dealer meetings at Honda. My husband Jean Paquet who passed away in 2023 had so much pleasure with Larry as well. They were both passionate MC DSM’s. - Posted by: Lyne Giguere (Friend from Honda) on: Jan 18, 2025

  • I met Larry not long after he and Kathy met. They eventually moved next door to us in Windsor Park. Larry truly was a loving caring husband to his wife, family and friends. I used to joke that if you wanted to find Larry, you would find him under the hood of a car! He will be truly missed! - Posted by: Robyn Pajak (Friend) on: Jan 18, 2025
