FRANCINE FOUQUETTE

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Francine Fouquette.

She was predeceased by her husband, Victor; her parents; and her brothers. She is survived by her children: Lynn (Len), Steve (Barb), Nadine, and Mark (Sherri); her grandchildren: Samantha, Sabryn, and Joshua; her sister-in-law, Huguette; nieces, Annie and Catherine; and close family friend, Melanie. She also leaves behind family in California.

Francine was born in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec. As a young girl, she loved drawing, skating, and participating in Girl Guides. She attended nursing school at the Hôtel-Dieu of Montreal, where she discovered her passion for obstetrics while working on various wards. Francine later moved to San Diego, CA, to work at Scripps Memorial Hospital. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Victor. Their journey together took them back to Quebec, then to Alberta, and eventually to Winnipeg.

After her nursing career, Francine opened a day care in her home, where she was affectionately known as "Auntie Francine" by many children.

Francine loved gardening, nature, and animals. She especially enjoyed Saturday shopping trips and lunches out. At home, she found joy in watching her favourite soap operas and cheering on the Winnipeg Jets.

She was fortunate to develop a close friendship with Christie-Leigh and Shirley Capper, sharing many visits filled with homemade lunches and treats over the years.

Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Christopher Fotti and Dr. Justin Ling for their compassionate care over the years. We are also grateful to the staff at Concordia Hospital, the Grace Hospital emergency department, and home care staff - especially Glenda and Bee - for their loving care. A special thank you to Sherri for her dedicated care and visits, which included shared moments enjoying jelly beans, strudel, and ice cream. We also deeply appreciate Melanie's support and friendship, as well as Christie-Leigh and Shirley's daily visits to the hospital.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held at St. Alphonsus Church, 341 Munroe Avenue, on January 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
