It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jane Polet, lovingly known as Jenny, on January 12, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born on February 28, 1941, in Sundown, Manitoba, to William (Chornopyski) Chornley and Sophie (Kostynyk), Jane grew up surrounded by love and carried that same love throughout her life.
Jane's family later moved to Transcona, where they owned and operated a corner store. She attended Central School and began building a life rooted in resilience, kindness, and devotion to family. As a single mother, Jane raised her three daughters with strength and unwavering love. She worked at Smith Galleries, where her hardworking spirit, beautiful smile, and warm personality shone.
Later in life, Jane met Stuart Polet, with whom she started a new chapter filled with cherished moments, loving memories, and lots of laughter. Together, they found great happiness in watching their families grow and spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jane will forever be remembered for her quick wit, wonderful sense of humour, and a heart so big that her kindness touched everyone she met. Her laughter was infectious, her smile radiant, and her love for life truly inspiring. She had an incredible ability to find joy in the little things and to brighten the lives of those around her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Stuart; her daughters Penny and Patti (Terry); and her stepchildren Cindy (Al) and Jason (Lindsay). She was predeceased by her daughter Sandra and her siblings Mary, Elsie, Andrew, and Nicholas, but her brother Lloyd remains among her surviving family.
Jane was lovingly known as "Grandy" to her grandchildren: Jenna (Logan), Andrew (Candice), Kari, Kayla (Aaron), Cody (Christine), Brittany, Mitch, Sean (Tara), Jesse (Karyn), Monessa (Dylan), Cooper, and Lily. Her great-grandchildren—Envy, Joshua, Hailey, Chloe, Emily, Aidan, Nevaeh, Odin, Asher, and Felix—were her greatest joy.
Jane will always be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering kindness, and her deep love for animals. She shared special bonds with her children and grandchildren, creating countless treasured memories that will be cherished forever.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.

My whole life I never had to question this woman’s love for me. Through all the garbage I put her through and all the bad decisions I made, she never chose to punish me or look down on me or make me feel less than. She made me feel truly loved and cared for regardless of my poor decisions. I miss her so much everyday. The bond I had with her is beyond anything I will ever experience again. I love you so much Grandy. - Posted by: Kari (Granddaughter) on: May 09, 2025
