MADELEINE AIMEE BOURGOUIN

Wife of Peter Reimer

March 15, 1944 - January 21, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Madeleine Aimee Bourgouin of MSA. She was born and raised in Winnipeg to Madeline Mooney and Dr. Jean Bourgouin.
Madeleine went to school in St. Boniface and then to St. Paul’s College. She then went to Toronto to get her teacher’s certificate. She taught French for 35 years and retired from teaching in Richmond, BC.
Madeleine was happily married to Peter Reimer. They lived in Kerrisdale for the last 43 years. She was a wonderful, loyal friend to many and will be remembered by those who knew her.
Madeleine will be remembered for her wit, her interest in other people, and her ability to genuinely connect with everyone she met.
She leaves to mourn her husband, Peter Reimer, her brother, Dr. Paul Bourgouin, and her sister, Jeanne Taylor.
Evening Prayers on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., and Mass on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., will be held in honour of Madeleine’s life, at St. John the Apostle Parish (5457 Trafalgar St., Vancouver, BC), with Burial at St. Boniface Cathedral Cemetery, in Winnipeg, MB, at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Peter, we are so very sorry for your loss. Madeleine was like another member of our family. My sister Carole was her best friend and their laughter was often heard in our home. I remember them dancing and singing the Mickey Mouse song in our living room. After that Madeleine always called my sister Mickey!! I will remember Madeleine with love. • Peter even though we met only once or twice, I have known Maddy since university in the 60's. She was such a unique person who made me laugh all the time. I am sad today knowing she will be absent from the world. With much sympathy, Paul Costello - Posted by: paul costello (friend) on: Jan 30, 2025
