MITCH DAVIDSON

Sadly, our husband, Brother, Dad and Uncle- Mitch Davidson has passed away January 31, 2025. We are all so devastated by his loss.

Mitch was born March 22,1957 and spent his early years in Ft Rouge. The family moved to Transcona in 1965. It was an awesome place to grow up. Mitch excelled at all sports- but his love was always Volleyball. He had continued to be involved in the community right up until his passing and was an International referee. He reffed at the London Olympics and the Beijing Olympics and we were so proud and thrilled for him.

In 2011-he met the love of his life Michelle and together they made a wonderful home together. And then they had Mitchell Jr. Mitch’s capacity to love that little guy even surprised Mitch. He was over the moon. He became Mr. Mom and the two of them did everything together. Mitch and MJ loved to attend WinManVolleyball camp and piano lessons, swimming and reffing.

Mitch always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. He brought sunlight everywhere he went.

He will be so, so missed. We are all still in disbelief that he’s really gone.

There is a go fund me if people wish to make donations. The money will be used to help Michelle and MJ get through the trying times ahead.

Thank you to all the wonderful staff at the Grace Hospital for all your kindness and compassion for our family.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. We will post here and on Facebook with details to follow. If you have a story to share please email to murrrr7777@gmail.com for MJ to see the impact his dad had in this world.

Such a Short Life for Someone so Full of Life.

Thank you to everyone for your outpouring of Love and Support.

Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • My sincere condolences to Mitchell and MJ. He will live on in your hearts. He is at peace now, even though you are sad and grieving. God Bless you and keep you both and prayers to help you through this time. Blessings. - Posted by: Janice Fotheringham (friend/ co-worker) on: Feb 12, 2025

  • Rest easy Mitch. Your confidence, officiating and knowledge of the game of volleyball was something to be admired. Thanks for all the chats. God bless you. - Posted by: Leanne Turner (Friend) on: Feb 09, 2025

  • Our family met Mitch through the volley community. Our son, Kevin, played club and university volleyball and Mitch was always so kind and supportive of him. When Kevin’s team traveled to Kamloops, circumstances put Kevin and Mitch together for a couple of days and Mitch took such good care of him. Kevin just loved listening to all of Mitch’s stories about volleyball and his experiences. After Mitch became a Dad we bumped into him a few times, of course at volleyball events. He was just “gushing” about how excited he was to be a Dad and what a gift it was for him. Mitch was such a bundle of positive energy. He left a glowing mark on so many people. He will be missed. - Posted by: Joanne Falconer (Acquaintance) on: Feb 03, 2025

  • So sorry to see this. My condolences to your family. - Posted by: Valoree Soppet (Acquaintance) on: Feb 02, 2025

  • I always appreciated Mitch on and off the court. His sense of humour often add some comic relief on the court. He will be missed. Thoughts amd prayers to his family. - Posted by: Rod Kehler (Club coach and friend) on: Feb 01, 2025

  • Our heartfelt condolences go out to Mitch’s family and friends. As a volleyball player and former referee, I had the privilege of knowing Mitch over the years. He was a true pillar of our volleyball community, leaving behind a lasting legacy as a referee, mentor, and friend. An exceptional person both on and off the court, he will be deeply missed. - Posted by: Carlito Vasquez (Volleyball Colleague) on: Feb 01, 2025

  • To Mitch's loving family and to his dear sister Lori Ann, my family and I send you our condolences. It seems that everyone knew Mitch. Mitch was just born a fun, enthusiastic, determined, dedicated, motivated person that surfaced in whatever audience surrounded him. Aside from his cute looks he shall be remembered of course, for his decades of his contribution to the sport of Volleyball that had impact in advancing the levels of both ref and team play as well as promoting Volleyball as an exciting sport that increased the enthusiasm of the spectators and the players over the years. Volleyball has come along way! Jill Palmer (McWhinney) Leah,Paul, Jeff and Bruce. - Posted by: Jill Palmer (McWhinney) (Friends through MVA) on: Feb 01, 2025

  • Penny and I best 'know' Mitch through the eyes of his two devoted sisters, Lori-Ann and Jennifer. We know him to be a wonderful son, husband, father and brother --- a true Olympian in far more than his chosen sport of volleyball. We share with the Davidsons wisdom from an author friend whose mother told her when her young sister died: "Some people have long books. Some short books. All that matters is it's a good book and your sister had a good book." Mitch didn't have a long book but his family can take comfort knowing he had a great book! And with his son and family he leaves the certainty of continued sequels to come as his memory lives on. - Posted by: Sheldon and Penny Bowles (Friends of sisters Lori-Ann and Jennifer) on: Feb 01, 2025

  • Sincere Condolences to the families on the passing of Mitch. Fond memories of days gone by on Sark Crescent. Remember the good times. Don and Lynne Bruce. - Posted by: Don and Lynne Bruce (Old neighbours) on: Feb 01, 2025
