HARLEY THEODORE NAVRATIL
With heavy hearts, we share the sudden passing of Harley on February 2, 2025. The dedicated medical team at the Health Sciences Centre fought valiantly to save his life and provided exceptional care and support to our family, for which we are deeply grateful.
Harley leaves behind his devoted wife, Donna, and his children, Rhonda, David, and Teresa; as well as Donna's children, David (Lindsay) and Paul (Nicole) Obirek. He was a cherished grandfather to Anne, Daniel, Mathew, Brendan, Aiden and Noah and a beloved brother to Gay Burdison (Jim). Harley would be pleased with the way his blended family has come together with love and support during this difficult time.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Olwen Navratil, and his sister, Gayle Champion who remain a beautiful part of his story.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at St. Charles Country Club in Winnipeg. The event will feature music performed by Harley's bandmates, a tribute to his lifelong love of music and performing. Friends, family, and all who knew Harley are warmly invited to join us in sharing memories and music. Virtual attendance via the zoom link, no password needed:

Harley was a proud 48-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous, and its guiding principles shaped his life.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to honour Harley's memory by donating to a charity that supports one of his many passions.
He will be deeply missed but live in our hearts forever.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference.

Ray and I send our condolences on Harley’s passing. We lost touch after we retired from shoe sales but always remember him as a warm, friendly, supportive person. We know he will be missed… may he rest in peace. We attended the funeral in absentia from Mexico. - Posted by: Ray Fillion and Pam Cameron (Fellow Shoe Sales Rep) on: Feb 09, 2025

The footwear business was a huge part of Harley's life. He hired me the end of 1970 and I worked with Harley Shoe Agencies for the next three years. He was my mentor and gave me oportunities that I would otherwise not be exposed to. After I retired, with oveer 50 years in the shoe business, Harley encouraged me to continue playing my ukulele as I sent him videos of some of our ukulele performances. In my mind he was a giant of a man and will be missed. - Posted by: Ken & Paulette Hembroff (Friend) on: Feb 08, 2025

We met Harley and Olwen when we joined St Charles in 2010. Dieter joined the Gould Golf league where Harley was a member and I joined the Happy Gang where Olwen played. Two lovely gentle souls to spend time with. Donna, we were so happy to meet you at the club with Harley following Olwen's passing several years ago. You made a great couple! Sending our heartfelt condolences to you and your families. I will really miss seeing Harley in his yard & sharing a quick Hola! when playing MacKenzie #3 this coming season. Our deepest condolences to Donna and the family at sad time. Although we knew Harley only in passing, we saw the affection between him and Donna when we met them at Fred Douglas Place events. We met a kind man with a sense of humor who clearly cared for his bride. Thinking of you all at this time. - Posted by: Mary Anne Whitehead and Ramona Tkachuk (Friends of Donna) on: Feb 07, 2025

We met Harley through Donna, and although we were only together on a few occasions, both Heather and I remarked on how warm and receptive he was. Our sense was of Harley being a genuine individual with an empathetic and engaging personality, and with a great sense of humour. I only wish that we could have spent more time together. Our sincerest condolences are for Donna and all the family. Ken & Heather - Posted by: Ken/Heather Berthiaume (Friends) on: Feb 06, 2025
