Eldon Dueck, of Abbotsford, BC, died at home on February 2, 2025, of pancreatic cancer at the age of 66.
Eldon grew up in Selkirk, MB. After post-secondary studies at the University of Manitoba, he joined the RCMP, where he served for 39 years, retiring as Staff Sergeant. Most of his service was spent in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, with the exception of a five-year posting to RCMP Headquarters in Ottawa in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Eldon faced his final illness with a clearsighted courage that balanced realism with optimism. He said, "I would like to live longer, but I can honestly say I have no regrets." He was particularly grateful for the time he had in his final months to connect with family and friends and made a point of reaching out to many he had not been in touch with for a while. He was also thankful that he was able to sell his beloved 1977 Ford Granada to an owner who "got it" about car maintenance and restoration and would give it a good home.
He leaves behind his wife, Robbie, son, Andrew, daughter-in-law, Christal, and granddaughter, Zoe, as well as extended family in Manitoba and BC.
Per Eldon's wishes there will be no formal service. Family and friends are invited to honour Eldon's memory and celebrate his life in their own way.

I am so sorry to hear the loss of Eldon. I worked with Eldon at Chilliwack numerous years ago. He was always very kind, and would always stop what he was doing to help me whenever I asked. He loved being a police officer and was very good at what he did. He made a big difference and I hope he knew that. I haven't seen Eldon in several years from my retirement in 2017. My sincere condolences to his family and friends of their immense loss. - Posted by: Robbie Drake (Friend Co Worker) on: Feb 10, 2025

My sincerest condolences to Eldon’s family and friends. I knew and had the pleasure of meeting Eldon at work and found him to be a reliable and conscientious investigator who was fair in his dealings with people and he had a great sense of humour that made him very approachable. His contributions, his positive outlook on life and his courage dealing with health challenges should be a model for others. Rest in peace, you deserve to. - Posted by: Tom Forster (Co-worker) on: Feb 09, 2025

Eldon was a wonderful person. He was always there to give advice or simply to chat. He was a very kind man. I'm now retired but remember my time working with him at UFVRD. God speed Eldon. - Posted by: Robbie Drake (Friend Co Worker) on: Feb 08, 2025

I remember Eldon well from the time we spent together at the Winnipeg karate club. There were lots of good memories, especially of his sense of humour. In recent years we reconnected through the internet where we continued the dialogue about martial arts. My condolences to the family.
