• I met Esther over 30 years ago at Manitoba International Folk Dance Association. Since then, I was fortunate to become friends with her daughter Eda. I had interesting conversations with Esther, whenever we met at a music or social event, as we were on the same page in supporting social reforms and progress - universal health care, the rights of working people, the unemployed, and all people to have a living income, access to health services, peace, justice, and basic freedoms. • I knew Esther from her days in the UJPO, the Winnipeg Folk Singers and as a director at the Children's Summer Camp at Husavik, MB. She was a joy -- her singing voice so warm and charming, her forthright humour so engaging. I can still hear and see Esther at Camp, walking and singing on a hike, or sitting and singing around a bonfire. She encouraged me and my friends into our teenage years. • I always enjoyed Esther❣️My friendship with Esther started in Spirit’s Call Choir. She was a loving woman & one with strong opinions. I remember many years ago when Esther taught our choir a Yiddish song. Her enthusiasm was contagious and she was so proud to share her culture with us.
