Carmen Lynn Smith born August 22, 1950, passed away peacefully Wednesday January 29 with family at her side.
Carmen was predeceased by her husband Crow "Jim" Smith, fur baby "Tink", and parents Don and Elsie Lenton.
Left to cherish her memory are her twin brother Dale Lenton (Karen), siblings Brenda (Don) Hales, Debbie (Randy) Copeland, Donnie Lenton, Tracy Lenton and many nieces and nephews.
Carmen was the first born of Don and Elsie Lenton. She attended Prince Charles School and later Portage Collegiate, completing her nursing studies in Winnipeg. Carmen began her working career in nursing holding many positions throughout the years, often speaking fondly of time spent in maternity at Portage Hospital. Gradually, she transitioned to office administration, ending her career with Manitoba Public Insurance in 2014.
Carmen's door was always open to family and friends. Often offering a place to stay for work, education, medical appointments and special events. Carmen was a dedicated caregiver spending her life caring for others.
Carmen enjoyed visits to warm destinations during the winter months. Carmen loved garage sales, frequently recounting many weekends spent with friends. Carmen was a dog lover, often babysitting, always purchasing tennis balls, toys, and treats for the visits. She created a lifetime of memories enjoyed with love, laughter, family and friends Carmen spent the last year of her life at Cobblestone House Assisted Living in Moosomin, Saskatchewan. We are very grateful for the amazing care and compassion received there. Carmie was known as a little spitfire, enjoying her coffee, cigarettes, and occasional beverage. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Southeast Integrated Care Centre Staff for their excellence in family centred care.
A Celebration of Life will follow Summer 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a Pet Rescue of your choice or to PAWS (Portage Animal Welfare Society) Box 1426, Portage La Prairie, MB R1N 3N9.
