JOHN ROBERT ANGUS (JACK) CLARKSON

With great sadness we announce the passing of Jack Clarkson on March 6, 2025, surrounded by family.

He was born on April 21, 1930, in Whitewood, Saskatchewan. Not one to let life pass by, Jack embarked on many adventures. He carved out his own path in life, building relationships with many along the way.

For the many Jack had the pleasure to meet, and who would listen to his stories, he will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Georgia, his sons, John (Darlene), Michael (Vickie), Darren (Celine), Nick (Kirsten), Patrick (Kourtenay), and daughter Mavis (Riva). Also, his grandchildren - Claire, Duncan, Mikayla, Jillian, Heidi, Angus, Tavin, Dylan and Jaclyn. He also leaves behind his sister June (Doug), many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 251 Bannerman Ave., Winnipeg on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Service will be live-streamed.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I hope the family knows that this man's legend lives on! I couldn't go on a challenging flight out of Matheson without a passenger reminding me that something even CRAZIER happened out there with Jack. Tough living in such a big shadow but I hope to leave an enduring legacy like him some day. RIP sir! - Posted by: Tami (admirer) on: Mar 23, 2025

  • I'm so sorry to see that Jack has passed. I first heard of him when I was searching for a book about Lake Winnipeg ships. I bought 3 of those books, then bought the others he wrote. I have recomended his books to many others in the area. I enjoyed reading them, just a easy reading of life in this area. My condolences to you his family. - Posted by: Sis (acquaintance) on: Mar 15, 2025
