Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • Sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. Over the years that we knew and worked with Bill on the local School Board and then later as a client for insurance and investments, he was always a fine example of service to family and community and a very knowledgeable and sincere service provider. He had a sense of duty and a willingness to work hard at anything he did. As a trustee, I remember him for his contributions which were always provided with conviction for what would serve students best and above all for his honest and common sense approach to issues under consideration. - Posted by: Bill And Della Schaffer (Friend) on: Mar 31, 2025

  • Our deepest condolences to Sheila & Family on the loss of Bill. Thinking of you at this sad time. Love and hugs from Jean & Robert Chapman & family. - Posted by: Andrea Sandney (nee Chapman) (Family) on: Mar 29, 2025

  • Condolences to Sheila and all the family. I car pooled many times with Bill on the way to and from Baseball Hall of Fame meetings. He loved to share stories about baseball, hockey, municipal politics, sometimes world affairs. He was always in good humour. He along with Sheila were big supporters of so many worthwhile causes in Souris and district. A wonderful example for all of us. Morris Mott - Posted by: Morris Mott (Friend) on: Mar 25, 2025

  • Our sincere condolences to Sheila, the boys and all their families. Bill was a fine sportsman, businessman and most of all a great friend. Many great times and stories spent together. We will miss you but will cherish the memories. May God bless. Wayne & Mary Poole - Posted by: Wayne & Mary Poole (Friends) on: Mar 25, 2025

  • My deepest sympathy to Sheila & family. Bill was a great friend to the Harmon family. Many good memories of all the Kirkup families. - Posted by: Helen Harmon (Friend) on: Mar 21, 2025

  • I had the pleasure of hearing The Kirkup’s life story last year when their family asked me to interview Bill & Sheila for a video recording chronicling their early years together and their many years in Souris. Bill’s vivid memories with the occasional "correction" from Sheila made it an enjoyable few hours for me. To hear in their own words, their life experiences and contributions to community were impressive! After completing that recording, the respect I had for them previously grew even more and on that same day, a long-running joke was settled when Bill bought lunch for me! If anyone lived a full life, it was Bill Kirkup! Throughout, he set an example as a family man and a member of his community. My sincere condolences to Sheila and family. - Posted by: Bill Turner (Friend) on: Mar 20, 2025
