Peacefully on March 8, 2025, Ken passed away at Trillium Lodge in his 86th year. Ken was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 10, 1938.

He grew up in Red Lake, Ontario. Later the family moved to Langruth, Manitoba. Ken worked in the mines in Ontario and Texada Island, BC. When Ken and Doreen were married, they moved to Victoria, BC, when Ken was a roofing contractor, later forming Inter Island Roofing. They enjoyed travelling many years in their RV but enjoyed fishing off the waters of Sooke in their boat Tar Baby. Ken was very active in curling, later retiring to Parksville, he enjoyed golfing.

Ken was predeceased by his father Bert Lawter, his mother Anna and Johan Johanson, his sister Doris and Russel Moffat. Ken is survived by his loving wife Doreen of 58 years, his nieces and nephew: Suzanne and Steve, Deborah and Don, Robert and Denise, Cindy, Lorrie, Dawn and Ernie, and their families.

There will be a family memorial at a later date at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Thank you to all the staff at Trillium Lodge for their kindness and compassion they showed Ken these past two years.
