LENA (HELEN) PAULS

(nee GUENTHER)

Lena went peacefully and beautifully to her Heavenly Home on March 17, 2025, at 7:53 p.m., surrounded by her family, which is exactly the way she would have wanted it. We know Jesus met her with open arms, just as we know she will joyfully be waiting for us.

Lena (Helen) was born July 5, 1940, to Frank and Helena Guenther of Neuhorst, MB. She was one of 13 children and although growing up poor wasn't easy, she always looked back on those years with fondness. She came from a very loving family and continued loving her own family with endless unconditional love to her last day on earth.

Gratefully cherishing her memory are her children, Jeffrey Pauls (Laurie), Rodney Pauls, Angela Connor (Mike) and Lana Grycki (Jason).

Also, her grandchildren Robyn, Aimee, Brendan, Joe and AJ, and her great-grandchildren Ava and Greyson.

Lena is also cherished by Menno Ed Pauls, former husband of 47 years, sweetheart and #1 favorite coffee date. Not to mention her Aunt and Uncle, many sisters, brothers and friends who will miss her dearly.

A very heartfelt thank you to all the caregivers at Kin Place PCH in Oakbank, MB who took kind and compassionate care of Lena through her good times and bad. We are grateful to each and every one of you who made her days brighter and helped her as she battled dementia.

Also, a huge thank you to Selkirk Hospital staff that so compassionately helped us during Mom's transition to Heaven. Your kindness toward our family will never be forgotten.

A video to celebrate Lena's life will be posted in the following days on YouTube called "Loving Lena".

Miss you Mom..

"See you in a few minutes"

  • Love and condolences to Lena’s family. You as a family unit have always been dear to my family. We have fond memories of time spent together. Some were so much fun! Other times we faced difficulties, but we always helped and encouraged each other and looked to God for help. I have always loved my sister Lena. She was compassionate and caring and willing to assist. I so remember my last visit with her and Lana. With Lana as a the chauffeur and Lena (Helen) and I in the back seat, we went for a lengthy drive last Fall. Lena and I decided it was time to put on the lipstick and a bit of rouge on our checks. Oh feeling good already. :>) Then sunglasses! We could have sung, “Oh I feel like a woman!” but we chose, “You are my Sunshine!” and sang with Lena leading the second verse. Lana’s eyes would catch us in the rearview mirror and sparkle. It was a very special time. I could talk in detail about Lena, Ed and family coming for a weekend bringing their camper. It was the Sunflower Festival in Altona. So with enjoying the parade and rides. Back at our place we joined in playing baseball, bonfires and berry picking from our garden. So much fun! These memories will remain. Love and blessings and on-going relationships, Sister Trudy. - Posted by: Trudy Peters (Sister) on: Mar 28, 2025

  • I remember your mom as a kind and gentle pretty lady with the bluest eyes. I'm sad for you and the pain of your mom's passing. Try to think of her away, not gone. 😔🙏 Thoughts and prayers with you. - Posted by: Colleen Bouvette (Friend and neighbor from mid 70's.) on: Mar 22, 2025
