Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE DONALD CHRISTIE
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of George Donald Christie, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at home while watching tennis on T.V. with his wife.
George will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Darlene Frances Turk (Winnipeg); Daughters, Raquel Wylynko (David) of Ottawa and their children, Taras and Afton. Daryla Christie (Scott Stewart) of Winnipeg, and their children – Adam, Nathan and James; and his sister, Elaine Morton of Strathclair, MB. He was predeceased by both his parents and brother, Bill Christie.
George met his wife, Darlene, in Grade 12 and they married shortly after their graduation from University of Manitoba. They loved each other deeply, they were best friends, and they recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. The two of them loved to do home projects together, sports, and travel. They took many trips to see their grandchildren out of town, and over the years managed to take each grandchild to Florida to see Disney World. They loved to pamper the kids.
As the grandkids got older, one of his greatest joys was watching the kids play hockey. George and Darlene rarely missed a game. In more recent years, he followed each one through their high school hockey journey playing for the St. Paul’s Crusaders. He would wear his colourful puffer winter jacket and the kids could look up into the stands from the ice and see grandpa cheering them on.
He enjoyed his profession as a CPA, working right up to the end. It was the perfect profession for him, with his quiet nature and his incredible knack for numbers and problem solving.
George was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle and father-in-law. He was loved by all and will be missed.
In keeping with George’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
