It is with immense sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Kimberly Dawn Hay on March 9, 2025, at the age of 63.
Kim will forever be lovingly remembered by her husband of 38 years, Jamie; children: Megan (Ryan), Ian, and Allison (Ernest); grandson: Kai; brother: Jim (Peggy) Trowsdale; sisters: Sharon (Brian) Bencharski, and Kelly (Darren) Farr; brother-in-law: Derek Hay; nieces and nephews: Caitlyn, Matthew, Crystal (Tyler), Brittney, and Austin (Jason); dogs and grand-dogs: Luna, Momo, Hudson, and Walter. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Arlie Trowsdale.
Kim was born on March 26, 1961. She grew up in Hadashville, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg at the age of 10. She graduated from Dakota Collegiate in 1979 and then worked at Eaton's and Northern Messenger before moving to Hodson Financial, where she worked for many years.
Known for her kindness and selflessness, Kim always made sure everyone around her was happy. She loved nothing more than to spend time with her family and friends. Kim was proud of her three children and the kind-hearted people they have become. She loved it when family stopped by and never let anyone leave unfed or empty handed. Kim was the best babysitter and dogsitter we could ask for. Her grandson, Kai, smiled with excitement every time she walked in the door. She was so proud of Kai and loved watching him learn and grow. Those close to Kim always had her at the top of their call history list. She was the person we all went to for anything, whether it was for life advice, someone to talk to, or a late-night airport pickup. We could always count on her, as she often said, "You do for family".
Kim enjoyed her summers on the dock at West Hawk Lake, playing bingo with the family on Saturdays, and hosting family dinners. Christmas was Kim's favourite time of the year. She loved going to craft sales, decorating her home, and everyone loved her Christmas baking. Kim had a way of making everyone feel special. She made friends everywhere she went and always greeted us with a big smile and a hug. She was also known to surprise loved ones with gifts, just because it made her think of them.
She will forever be missed for the love she brought to the lives of those around her. We love you, Mom.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, 1 Green Acres Lane, Navin, Manitoba, R5T 0H2.

I was so sad to hear of of Kim’s passing and wanted to send my heartfelt condolences to family and friends who knew her best. Although I didn’t know her well I felt a strong connection with her family through my marriage to her cousin Reg. Just remembering this family's capacity for love, fun and family speaks volumes to the person Kim grew to be. I have been away from Manitoba and this beautiful family for many years but have so many fond memories. So in spite of the years and the distance I always hold a warm spot in my heart for you all and I hope that all your memories of Kim's beautiful spirit will see you through this difficult time. - Posted by: Diane Amos (Friend of family) on: Apr 15, 2025

I was so shocked and saddened to learn of dear Kim’s untimely death and I extend my deepest sympathy to you, her beloved husband Jamie and Megan, Allison and Ian and your families. You were her heart’s joy and pride, and her darling grandson Kai brought her great happiness. I am so sorry for your loss and grief . I know that Sharon, Kelly and Jim are heartbroken and all the family will mourn Kim’s passing and miss her loving, happy, and cheerful presence. I’ve known Kim since she was a baby. She was always so sweet and kind and concerned for everyone else’s well- being and happiness. I take some comfort in believing that her parents, Arlie and Walter were there to gather her into their arms in eternity. Kim will live on in the hearts and memories of her family and friends. Dear Jamie, Megan, Ian, Allison, Kai and family -My deepest and heartfelt condolences to you all on the loss of your beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Kim and I were close friends during high school and we shared so many fun and laughter filled times together. She was a wonderful friend to me and although we eventually lost touch when I moved away from Winnipeg I have never forgotten her. It is clear that the person I knew was the person she always was throughout her life - kind, loving and selfless. She will be forever loved and remembered by all the people she has touched, whether a moment in time or a lifetime, and she will be deeply missed. Sending love to you all. Kim was an exceptional friend to my mom for over 30 years. They met dropping off their kids at school and remained friends since then. If I ever called my mom and the phone was busy, I would inevitably get a text saying “sorry chatting with Kim!” Our families grew up together, spending summers together at West Hawk, and all the time in between hosting elaborate parties together that were the highlight of my childhood. The Grey Cup party was always at the Hay’s, and to this day I still make the taco dip that Kim would make for that event. Kim always made sure everyone had what they needed and did it with the kindest smile. The Unett’s send their condolences to Jaime, Megan, Ian, and Allison. - Posted by: Danielle (Her friend’s daughter) on: Mar 29, 2025

Kim and I were friends from the beginning. Our parents were best friends and Kim and I were just a year apart in age. She was like a very close cousin to me. She was always a sweet and affectionate and loyal friend. She had a great sense of humour and such a great laugh! I will miss hearing her laugh. She was soft hearted and moved by music and poetry and beauty in all its forms. She revered her family history and loved antiques and things with age and a story to tell. She loved animals and her dog and all the dogs in her life brought her so much joy. We had many fun memories together. When she met Jamie I knew early on that she had found her person. Jamie made her laugh a lot and they built a beautiful life together. Kim adored all of her family and was devoted to them. She was very close to her sisters and her brother and her parents and her in-laws. She took such great care of her mom in her last years. Her children were everything to her. I loved hearing her talk about her children and their accomplishments. She was very proud but her most important concern was always for their happiness. When Kai, her grandson, came along, Kim was over the moon. Kim And I had many heart to hearts over the years and we always told each other that we loved each other. I am so grateful for that. She was a true friend to many people and there is no one who knew her who will not be sad that she is gone. She had the most beautiful blue eyes and pretty smile. Rest in peace Kim. - Posted by: Joan hreno (Life long friend) on: Mar 29, 2025
