RUSSELL EDWARD REBIZANT

(1951-2025)

The world feels a much emptier place since Russ left us. Passing peacefully on March 12, 2025, in Kelowna BC, Russell Rebizant (1951-2025) was predeceased by his parents George Rebizant and Kathleen (née Gutowski), and siblings Joseph (Lulu) and David (Patricia).

Russ is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Lorraine; daughters Holly (Darcy Zavislak) of Las Vegas and Amber (Jarred Nolan) of Winnipeg with former spouse Deborah Tio of Winnipeg; stepdaughter Holly Yager of Kelowna; nephews Ken, Terry, Christopher, Richard, niece Michelle; and many other loving family members and friends.

Russ was born in Selkirk MB and cherished his time with family and friends. He was very proud of his daughters and the lives they built for themselves. In his career, Russ was well respected in the financial services industry. He dedicated himself to ensuring people understood the value of caring for loved ones in times of need. He held several managerial positions at London Life, including Regional Director of the Winnipeg office where he inspired many with his motto: "turn adversity into opportunity". His legacy of genuine care for others will continue to live on

Russ remained loyal to his Manitoba roots and to his Ukrainian ancestry, even after retiring to the Okanagan in 2012. In his later years, Russ enjoyed the company of the guys in the pool room at the West Kelowna Seniors Centre. A lifelong joy for Russ was his Harley Davidson, and the freedom and friends that came along for the ride. Russ and Lorraine spent many happy summers touring Canada and the US together.

Russ will always be remembered for his generosity, infectious spirit, and laughter. We know that he is now at peace and riding his beloved Harley to a better place.

Cremation has taken place. At his request, there will not be a service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson Society of BC are appreciated.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • My sincere condolences to the family . Very sorry for your loss . Russell was my first cousin and as a child I adored him . He was 9 yrs older than me. Reading this made me incredibly sad . Russell was one of my fondest memories as a child long long ago . He was so kind to me .. I was only 5 yrs old the memories always stayed with me . He was a positive memory of my past ..along with his Dear Mama (my Auntie Kay.) In fact I reached out to him years later when I was 26yrs old ..when my first child was born in 1986 for a London Life insurance policy which was absolutely genius on his part .. he said Wendy let this work for you …don’t touch it until it matures ..until your children are 18 yrs of age . Wow was he a smart man ! Those few dollars turned into thousands thanks to Russel . Although I never saw him after that .. I always thought about my favourite cousin often through the years . May you RIP Russel . You are missed my many . Love your little cousin Wendy ❤️ - Posted by: Wendy Beaman (Gutowski) (1st cousin Auntie Kay & my Father were brothers) on: Apr 01, 2025

  • Sending our sincere condolences to Lorraine and the entire family. I (Candyce) worked with Russell in the early 1970's at the Selkirk Safeway. I remember him being an assistant manager and a ball of fire. He was also our insurance guy after he left Safeway. We were so sorry to hear of his illness. He was really a very nice guy. Our sincere condolences to all. RIP my friend. - Posted by: Candyce Eve Hawkins (Co-worker / Friend) on: Mar 29, 2025

  • Sincere condolences Lorraine and family. Russ was genuine, he made such a difference in our life. He inspired us by believing in us, by hiring both my husband and I as financial advisors. Like us he believed that our work was only done when we truly helped families take care of each other in times of need. So glad that we reconnected in the last few years to share some great memories. I will always be grateful for the difference he made in my family’s life. Sending prayers and love.🙏🙏💕💕 - Posted by: Cécile Berard (Co worker) on: Mar 29, 2025

  • Holly and Amber and family: so sorry for your loss. Russ was always such a happy guy. Enjoyed lots of laughs over the decade that we were neighbours. I saw him about 10 or 15 years ago when we were both gassing up in Prawda. Loved his bow ties too. Hopefully your happy memories will overcome your sadness. Russ was always such gift for us all. - Posted by: Fred Wright (Former neighbour) on: Mar 29, 2025
