MILDRED (MILYA) SMITH

(nee POPOWICH)

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mildred (Milya) Smith on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

She leaves her five children, Darrell, Kevin (Monique), Karen (Tom), Kelly (Joe and Kristin) and Daniel; also 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Lauren, Jesse, Justin (Carmel), Karli (Ethan), Steven (Karlee, Eva), Matt (Michelle, Kade and Remi), Mark (Shayna, Knox and Brooks), Cole (Julie, Eiden and Ellis), Morgan (Chris, Hallie and Rowen), Aidan and Nicholas.

She lived a very full life having Sunday dinners while also enjoying weekends at the farm and traveling to places she never thought she would see.

During her life, mom did many things for the family without even thinking about it. We all learned without realizing it - how to make perogies, borscht, Christmas cookies, and much in between. She made it a family event to all get together and roll out dough, pinch perogies until your hands cramped but always have time for a quick sip of wine. She was always open to sharing her home with extended family when they came to town and stopped everything when one of the kids needed it.

The family would like to thank the Irene Baron Eden Centre for taking care of mom where she enjoyed dancing, singing and happy hour.

Mom's wishes to be accepted into the University of Manitoba's Human Anatomy and Cell Science Department was granted which would have made her happy.

She is loved and

will certainly be missed.
