YUKIO MORITA
Yukio passed peacefully on March 20, 2025, at Lions Manor.
He is survived by his beloved life partner of over 50 years, Staffa Kopchuk, his sister Kay Mitsui (Morita) and nieces, Betsy Callanan, Linda Morita and Cheryl Cater. Predeceased by his parents, Hirokichi and Fujino, and his older brothers, Hirokazu, Frank/Fujio and Saburo.
Yuk was born in the fishing village of Steveston, BC on February 8, 1930. He loved golfing, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, curling, family and his many friends.
There will be no service. His final resting place is Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Winnipeg.
With heartfelt thanks to Lions Manor and the Japanese Cultural Association of Manitoba for his care during his final years.

Yukio was my friend and coworker. I have many fond memories of Yukio as part of the DDVL family. No matter where I went with Yukio, whether golfing in the Thursday Night Golf league, Highway tournaments, the St. Boniface course, Rae and Jerry's, or the Bomber games, everyone knew Yukio by name. Yukio loved Staffa and his nieces very much, talking about them often and sharing pictures. He was a kind and generous gentleman and touched the hearts of all who knew him. My sincere condolences to Staffa and Yukio's family. Betty Jubinville - Posted by: Betty Jubinville (Friend) on: Apr 11, 2025

I met Yukio while we were working at DDVL. Yukio was a lovely, kind and generous man. Dennis and I spent many good times on and off the golf course with him. We also had a meal or two with him and Staffa. They were such a sweet couple. Yukio had a full and good life. He will be missed. - Posted by: Karen Nelson (Friend) on: Apr 07, 2025
