YVETTE IRENE HOUDE

With family at her side, Yvette Irene Houde (nee Gervais) passed away on March 29, 2025, at the age of 92. Yvette was our dearly loved mother, “mémère”, sister, aunt and friend. She lived a very full life and was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance.

Mom and dad (Laurent) married in 1954. They started their life together on their farm in St. Eustache. Mom was known as the “hired hand” as she was always busy working in the fields, barn, the animals and garden. She never complained about the hard work, but knew that her efforts would reap rewards for the whole family. Mom always saw to having family gatherings for all of us to remember. Her passion for her homemade buns, meat pies and mustard pickles is a legacy that we will always cherish.

Mom will be sadly missed by her children Jo-Anne (Bob) Wood, Patrick, Roger (Donna), Sherry-Lynn (Norbert) Desilets and Rachel (Mike) Saltiss; grandchildren Kevin (Erica), Jason (Astrid), Nichelle (Mark), Stephanie, Dustin (Jen), Kelsey, Kyle (Jessica), Janelle and Tyler as well as 9 great-grandchil¬dren.

Leaving to cherish her memories are her brother Ernest (Mariette), sisters Simone Lambert (Raymond), Claudette L’Heureux and Doris Thorimbert (Ted), sisters-in-law Denise Gervais and Pauline Gervais. Mom was predeceased by her infant children Brian and Marie, our dad (Laurent) and a granddaughter Bonnie Wood. She was also predeceased by her parents Edouard and Simone Gervais, her stepfather Emile Hebert; sisters Lucille, Jeannette and brothers Fernand, Gilbert and Rene and daughters-in-law Sherry Houde and Barb Bergen.

Family would like to thank Action Marguerite St. Vital (Foyer Valade) for their dedication and care during mom’s stay.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at St. Eustache Roman Catholic Church on Monday, April 7 at 11 a.m. with Father Abel Alate presiding. Interment to follow in Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Eustache Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 144, Elie, Mb R0H 0H0 or e-transfer to bsteuoffice@gmail.com

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Our sincere sympathies to the family; she will be missed by all who had the privilege to have known her but she will be missed the most by her family. I went to school with Yvette and played baseball on the same team but she far excelled me. Later, she and Laurent became our neighbour in St. Eustache but that was short lived as I got married in 55 and moved to Starbuck. Wish I could have gone to the funeral but I just got out of the hospital and avoiding big gatherings for now until I’m fully recovered.
