Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE (FLO) NYS
On March 19, 2025 at the age of 78, Florence left this world in peace surrounded by those who loved her. She will be forever loved and missed by her daughter Michelle and Kevin, her grandsons, Jacob (Natasha) and Noah, her partner Den and all his wonderful family, her best friend Donna and family, her sister Diane (George), nieces, Tricia and Shauna, nephew Jason, her dog, Dixie, as well as many other friends and family. She was predeceased by her parents, Evelyn and Bert Nys, brother Butch and his daughter Kari, baby sister Donna Ann and grandparents, George and Eva Greig and Albert and Helen Nys.
Mom was a very classy lady who lived a simple life filled with family, a few great friends, love, laughter and connection. She was the proud matriarch of her family and loved being nana to her boys and to Den’s grandchildren and great grandchildren. Our mother-daughter relationship was one that many people wished they had. I was truly blessed by her love. Her love was unconditional, supportive and extremely generous. She spoiled us rotten. She loved cuddles, holding hands, hugs and kisses. She had a wicked sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh – usually at Den’s expense. Mom enjoyed spending quality time with Den and Dixie, rides out to my place for family functions, going on shopping trips with Donna, a good meal out with great company, reading a good book or magazine, puttering in her yard, binge watching some new favourite show, enjoying endless laughs on our card nights together, doing puzzles, playing solitaire and connecting in real ways with whoever she met. Once COPD took over, she adjusted to each new restriction she faced. No matter how bad it got, she always told me that she would hang on as long as she could. She never wanted to leave us. I almost giggled when she told me that she had no idea what she would do without her family once she was gone. Well Mom, we have no idea what we will do without you. Know with all your heart that you will be forever loved, missed dearly and never forgotten. One day, we will all meet again.
Special thanks to the staff and Clergy at the St. Boniface Hospital for providing end of life care and support in Mom’s final hours. You helped to comfort us and made her passing a very blessed experience. Cremation has taken place. We will hold a Celebration of Life at the Elie Veteran’s Hall, 34 Main Street, Elie, MB April 12, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Lunch and refreshments to follow. Please join us.

I remember Flo from school - we were always the tallest. Then when I saw her as a receptionist at Contact Lens Services, it was great to get re-connected. My condolences to her daughters and families. - Posted by: Rena Parker (Friend from school) on: Apr 16, 2025
