GEORGE LEONARD
At his home, surrounded by his loved dogs, on Friday, March 28, 2025, George Andrew Joseph Leonard passed away.
George, 58, was predeceased by his father, Edmond Joseph Leonard on August 12, 2024.
George had a tough exterior, a heart of gold and a warm smile. His blue eyes would twinkle, and a smirk always gave away that he was up to something.
Losing George so unexpectedly has been extremely difficult. However, knowing the impact he has had on so many lives speaks to the person George was.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to "George Leonard MSAR Legacy, Go Fund Me" that will continue the work George was so passionate about.
We will continue George's legacy, "Changing lives, one dog at a time"

My parents and I were neighbours just two doors over from the Leonard family. I spent many times playing with Billy, Rita and remember George as a little tyke in a carriage. Times go on, but, you always remember growing up and early childhood memories. George was always very playful as I remember and I wish my sincerest condolences. I only knew how as a child, but, no doubt he touched many lives. Remembering Eddy as well driving the Mayflower truck. My heart goes out to you all…..presuming you remember me. Happily married for 32 years living in New Brunswick with my beautiful wife Heather who also sends love and condolences. - Posted by: Robert (Rob) McLaughlin (Neighbor and childhood playmate of OVER 50 years ago) on: May 01, 2025

Our condolences to George's family. I'm sure he will be sorely missed by MSAR and the many people he has helped over the years. We met George on a couple occasions when he came to acquire a few Aussies for his program. The first time was when he came and chose Bennie. - Posted by: Pearl Dyck (aquaintance) on: Apr 10, 2025

Sincere condolences to George's Family. My family was grateful for George when he was there to help my family find our beloved brother Trevor. George had heartfelt compassion and did his job well. Miigwetch George. Rest easy. - Posted by: Theresa (None) on: Apr 07, 2025

George made my life immensely better by just being in my life and just being himself. His gift of his time to me was immense and amazing. He was a true warrior for good and love in this world for those who struggle. Much respect and love, George - Posted by: Kimberly Marr (Friend) on: Apr 06, 2025

We are so sorry to read of George's passing. His sister had introduced us to him to help us with one of our dogs. His gift of training and loving dogs were admirable. Condolences to the sisters that I once worked with, take care, Dee and Dave. - Posted by: Dee and Dave Thomas (Aquaintances) on: Apr 05, 2025

I met George ten years ago. I was in need of a service dog to assist me with a medical and psychological condition. He immediately arranged for me to get an English Labrador at NO COST. Over the following two years we met weekly to zero in on the training requirement of this 7 week old pup. The dog, Axle, is still with me and not a day goes by where he doesn't come to my aide. Thank you is not sufficient. Rest in Peace bud. - Posted by: Mike Geburt (Friend) on: Apr 05, 2025

I am so very saddened to read of George's unexpected passing this morning. George worked with me with two of my dogs, Bear and Cargo to certify them, so that we could support many learning challenged and other students in The Louis Riel School Division for over 8 years. What an experience to see these children's faces light up and throw their arms around these two big dogs-Pyrenees and Bernese Mountain Dogs. When I first met George with Bear, the Pyr, he didn't want to train him as he said their temperaments weren't suited to what I had in mind, He was SO pleased when things worked out for us!! Bond, another 175lb. Berner, and myself, finished our certification with MSAR on November, 2023 and have since been volunteering at Riverview Health Centre. The smiles, happiness, joy, and tears that Bond brings to not only residents, but staff and visitors alike, has been overwhelming!!
