Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGARY RALPH EXNER
Peacefully in his sleep Gary Ralph Exner passed away on March 14, 2025, in Winnipeg at the age of 85. Gary was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and dear friend to many.
He is survived by his loving wife Doreen with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. He will be lovingly remembered by his cherished daughters, Laura and Kathy (Kevin) and grandchildren, Danielle and Alex. He will be sadly missed by sister-in-law Joanne and husband Greg and their family.
Gary grew up in Winnipeg and worked for CBC in radio master control for 35 years. During these years Gary and his family enjoyed their cottage at Green Lake in the Whiteshell Provincial Park where friends were always welcome and where he taught many people how to water ski! Gary and Doreen were lucky enough to retire in their early 50s and enjoy another 25 years as snowbirds at Kings Gate Club in Nokomis, Florida where many a happy hour were enjoyed with great friends and martinis!
Gary was the handiest of handymen and could fix anything! He never said no to anyone asking for a hand whether it be a house, car or computer. He was a kind friend, and all were welcome in his home.
Gary’s legacy of love and friendship will be honoured on April 27, 2025, as we gather to celebrate his life on April 27, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 1115 Molson Street, Winnipeg.

Dear Doreen, Laura and Kathy: We were saddened to hear of Gary’s passing. As growing up Gary had a special place in my heart, trying to teach me how to water ski even though I failed, I had a great time at least trying, to helping me with getting computers for Josh’s elementary school and setting them up, we greatly appreciated his expertise. He had such patience. I have so many fantastic memories, that I will treasure always. Our prayers are with you during this difficult time. May God guide you through this difficult journey. Sorry to read the sad story of GARY'S passing, Doreen and family. I and Gary both started our CBC days on the same day. Good friends at CBC. He was/is a very helpful and pleasant person. We also lived on the same street in Windsor Park. We later moved to B.C. - Posted by: Merv Roach (Work place friend.) on: Apr 05, 2025
