MURIEL ROBELL MILLER

(nee MITCHELL)

August 25, 1932 - March 29, 2025

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Mom, Muriel Miller (nee Mitchell) on March 29, 2025, at the age of 92.

She leaves to mourn daughters, Kelly (Mike) and Jamie (Doc); grandchildren, Kyla (Otis), Curtis and Tanya; greatgrandchildren, Shaylene and Natalia; sisters, Sharon, Lynne and Helene. Mom was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Jim Miller; parents, Hilda and Ernie (stepfather) Kelley, father Arthur Mitchell; brother Keith Mitchell (Lorraine).

Mom was born in Saskatoon and moved to Winnipeg when she was 11 years old. She met the love of her life Jim Miller at the age of 16 at Grand Beach and were married in 1953.

Mom loved travelling and enjoyed many family vacations and becoming a snowbird later on. But her greatest joy was her summer's spent at Grand Beach with her family and best friends, Joan Culbertson and the Kirby's. Along with many others. She was an incredibly kind and generous person, wherever mom was the door was always open, especially at the cabin, which was always full. Whether for a cup of coffee, a meal or for her famous card games. Fun and laughter was had by all.

Mom was so fortunate to have met her half sisters later in life and they enjoyed many times together. It was such a blessing.

Mom spent the last four years of her life in Riverview, and her table was always full with the ladies.

A celebration of Muriel's life will be on Saturday, April 19 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews River Heights United Church, 255 Oak St., Winnipeg. Please join us!

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Muriel was unique in every way. Her door was always open and her smile was always there….for everyone. Her heart saw the good in people and her friendship was something to be treasured. She loved a good joke, even though she would cringe at times… especially at my jokes! She, with her husband Jim, made the perfect couple…a marriage that was built on respect, laughter, patience, adventure and love. I learned so much from her, most notably her grace. I miss her already, but I know she is with God and that we will meet again one day. In the meantime, I know her love will live on through her daughters and through memories of her. Love never ends. I LOVE you “mom” and will forever be thankful that God introduced us all those years ago. You have left an indelible legacy in my life and I will miss you every day. May you dance with the angels! • So sorry for your loss Jamie and Kelly, I have a wonderful memory of visiting your mom and dad out at Grand Beach one summer and have a super 8 video of it. My mom worked for your mom and dad for many years as their cleaning lady and I would go with her I guess when I had a day off school. Your dad was there when my mom had her stroke and he visited at the hospital and it meant a lot to our family. - Posted by: Sandra (Friend) on: Apr 09, 2025
