John Gnutel joined God in eternal rest on April 4, 2025. John (Gigi) was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
John joins his wife Iris, son Donald and predeceased family and friends in heaven. He leaves to mourn sons David (Genia) and Michael (Mary), daughter-in-law Michelle, grandchildren Alexis (Daniel), Daria (Chad), Joshua (Ulana), Greg (Jenny), Matthew (Susan), Stephen (Allison), Luke (Amanda) and Amy, great-grandchildren Lincoln, Isabella, Emma, Madeline, Sophia, Maritza, Aubrey, Leon, William, Aiden, Henry, Leo and Owen. Also left to mourn are numerous siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a long-time member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood and Knights of Columbus - Bishop Budka council.
John was employed for almost 30 years with Shell Canada - St. Boniface Refinery starting as a Refinery Operator and retiring as a Plant Operating Supervisor in 1983.
Dad enjoyed construction projects and gardening, sharing his many talents and bounty with family and friends. He loved camping with his family, fishing and travelling with Mom to Hawaii and La Feria, Texas for many years.
Thank you Dad (Gigi) for your endless love, support and care. We love you!
Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the Holy Family Home staff for the care and compassion shown to Dad over the past six years.
Divine Liturgy funeral mass will be held Monday, April 14, 2025 at 10:00 am, at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 400 Day Street. Interment to follow at Green Acres Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s memory to St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Lubov SSMI Foundation (Holy Family Home), or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
