Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM ANDREW WHEELER
William (Andy) Wheeler passed on April 2, 2025, at the age of 64. He leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Marie, and their children Jeremy and Genevieve. He also leaves behind his mother Joan, his sister Dina Bering, her husband Brad and their family, his many extended family members, and his close friends David Zinger and Susan Gerlach. He was predeceased by his father, Bill in 2007.
Andy attended Hastings Elementary and Junior High schools and graduated from Dakota Collegiate in 1978. He went on to receive a Commerce Degree from the University of Manitoba and joined his father at William Wheeler Agencies.
Andy was a loving father and enjoyed spoiling his children. Even though Andy travelled extensively for work, he never missed any of the important moments of his children’s lives.
Andy was a proud member of Niakwa Country Club for 40 years. Like most golfers, he was passionate about the game and developed some very important friendships throughout those years.
Andy’s family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their caring and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba.
A gathering to remember Andy will be held at Niakwa Country Club on Friday, April 25th at 2:00 p.m.

Andy and I met in first year at U of M. Within a few weeks of knowing each other Andy had invited us for riverboat cruises and his so famous pork ribs. We golfed and shared rentals in AZ and no matter what the damages were from the previous evenings events Andy always made his tee time. We grew closer as the years went on and Andy lovingly gave me the nickname Scooter which has stuck with me ever since. He was a prominent member of our wedding party and his speech was so full of laughs. He was just the best! Sure hoping that chef Andy is finally going to have his place in the kitchen at that fine restaurant in the sky. - Posted by: Scott Grant (Friend) on: Apr 25, 2025

I grew up with Andy and went through Hastings and Dakota with him. He was a great friend and teammate, and always up for fun. I’ll never forget the trip we took to Florida with Barry and Earl when we were 18. Driving across the states in his orange cutlass. I was so sad to hear of his passing. My deepest condolences to his family. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Clay Kendall (Friend) on: Apr 16, 2025

I grew up with Andy all through school and sports and university. We were in almost all classes together in Commerce and did a lot of group projects together. Andy had a keen interest and aptitude for business which lead him to follow in his Dads footsteps. We had a lot of FUN evenings on the boat cruising the Red River and Andy was always the best host especially in his Orange sports car I believe he had. Our thoughts are with you Maria and your family. Take care my friend. - Posted by: Drew Single (Childhood friend) on: Apr 12, 2025

My condolences to Marie, her family, Mrs. Wheeler, Dina and family. Although I had not seen Andy for many years I went to school with Andy and we played football together with the St. Vital mustangs. We played on the O-line and I got to know him pretty good in our teenage years. Andy had a great sense of humor but played tough on the field. He was tackle and I was the guard. Good memories. Great family and many good memories with the Wheeler family. Rest in Peace Andy. Howard Kitchen - Posted by: Howard Kitchen (friend) on: Apr 12, 2025

We will always have fond memories of Andy, our brother-in-law, cooking up a storm in our Kelowna kitchen and barbecuing on our deck during many of the family visits for ski vacations up at Silver Star as well as summer beach occasions. He truly was a gourmet chef! Andy was a great uncle - he helped instill a solid work ethic in his young nephew Ryan, hiring him to rake leaves, paint fences and negotiate remunerance, then generously rewarding him for his efforts. Andy introduced his nephew to snowboarding, gifting him with his very first snowboard, to slide the slopes of Omands Creek, long before Ryan moved to the Okanagan. Business man extraordinaire in his prime, we hold on to remembering Andy as a great family provider and an entertaining host. May you rest in peace, dear Andy. - Posted by: Annette and Sepp (sister-in law) on: Apr 12, 2025

Very sad news - as Earl and Peter mentioned Andy was an outgoing fun person whose love of life was infectious. I played hockey with Andy who was a goalie in my early teens. One story I still remember was in warmup I shot a pretty hard wrist shot up very high and Andy was not pleased. I didn’t realize at that age warmups are strictly for the goalie and not to practice your shot. Sorry about that Andy. 😔😔 Sincere condolences to all his family.🙏🙏 - Posted by: Murray Sisler (Friend) on: Apr 12, 2025

Pam and I wish to express our heartfelt sympathies to Marie, Jeremy and Genevieve. I can remember several wonderful conversations with Andy over the years, whether on the golf course or during a dinner in a restaurant. He was a very good man who was passionate about his family and golf. Marie and family: we were incredibly saddened to hear about the passing of your dear husband and father. He will truly be missed. - Posted by: J. Piché (Friend) on: Apr 12, 2025

I went through my early life with Andy. He was my best buddy. We shared grade school, played many seasons of football, worked our first paying job together and all the ups and downs of life that came along with those times. He was a fun loving guy, up for anything, (Oh, the memories!) with a tremendous work ethic. I fondly look back on those years when we were all bulletproof. My sincerest condolences to Marie, Dina, Mrs. Wheeler and families. Godspeed my friend. - Posted by: Earl Toews (Friend) on: Apr 12, 2025

Knew Andy from grade 1 at Hastings Elementary School in the Pulberry area of St. Vital. Shared school, hockey, University days with him. Andy was an outgoing, driven individual who made lifelong friends easily. His whit and charm was unmatched. I was devastated. when I heard of Andy’s early onset Alzheimer’s diagnosis. I visited him at Riverview and hopefully somewhere in his mind he knew who I was and recalled the memories I shared with him. While he was still physically healthy I would walk the unit with him talking to him about memories and current events about people he would have known and world events. He could still make me laugh as at one point in one of the walk and talks I asked him if I was annoying him and without hesitation he answered YES. As his physical condition deteriorated it was hard to visit as I could still see him as a the young vibrant man I grew up with. My condolences to Marie, Jeremy and Genevieve. God bless. As long as you can remember him he is never really gone. - Posted by: Peter Tod (Friend from St. Vital) on: Apr 12, 2025
