VESPERTINA ISIDRO BATTAD
Our beloved Vespertina Isidro Battad (known as Tina or Auntie Nen to many) peacefully entered eternal life with God on April 1, 2025 after 91 years with us, and is now reunited with her family in Heaven.
Tina was born in San Marcelino, Zambales, Philippines on June 20, 1933, and she is the beloved youngest sister, to 3 older sisters and 4 older brothers, who have all predeceased her. She was a loving Auntie to many nieces & nephews who live in Canada, the Philippines and the USA. “Auntie Nen” is dearly missed by all of them.
Tina pursued a degree in education and was an elementary school teacher in both the Philippines and in Gilbert Plains Manitoba where she taught alongside her lifelong friend Francisca Tungcul, known to many as “Kay” who predeceased her in 2017. “Auntie Nen” immigrated to Canada on August 23, 1967, and she became a Canadian citizen in 1973.
Throughout her life, Vespertina touched many with her tremendous generosity, as she donated religiously to over 30 charities supporting causes important to her. Anyone who knew Tina got to know that she had a passion and great talent for cooking. Often friends and family would gather at her home to share a delicious, loving & home-cooked Filipino meal. We are all eternally grateful to have spent time here on Earth with our beloved Tina / “Auntie Nen” and she will be greatly missed by us all until we meet again, someday.
The family thanks the medical team at Seven Oaks General Hospital, we greatly appreciate the work you did for our dear Auntie.
Prayers (Lamay) will be hosted on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church on Friday April 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
