BO PATRICK BECKETT

February 23, 1990 – June 8, 2025

Unexpectedly on June 8, 2025, we tragically lost our Bo.

Bo was born in Winnipeg, MB and spent his first four years in Ashern, MB, living in the country, east of town. His early youth was spent outside with his trusty companion Taco, childhood friend Andrew and spending countless hours with his grandparents Paul and Marion, Bill and Margaret-Ann.

The family moved to Stonewall in 1995 and after a year in the mosquito ranch, moved into town and Bo started school.

The following year saw a final move back out of town. It was at this point that his passion for hockey was ignited. Playing and practicing in the Stonewall Minor Hockey Program, necessitated the need for an outdoor surface at home. Along with his sister Brooke, fellow teammates and friends, Bo spent countless hours on the backyard rink with as many as 8 to 10 on the ice at any given time. Our ‘all too small of a home’ was filled with laughter, shenanigans and the unbridled joy of a childhood well spent.

While unable to complete high school, his later education was in the ‘school of hard knocks’. His struggles began at this time and continued into his adult life.

While employed in numerous jobs, Alberta is where he found home. A long stretch at ClearStream Energy, followed by his latest job with Westmoreland Mining.

For the last few years, Bo enjoyed some long stretches of peace and serenity. The five years he spent with Jen in Edson, AB on the ranch were some of his happiest times together with Jen and the dogs, doing chores, going for rides either on horseback or in the gator, brought him a sense of joy and peace.

Despite the challenges, Bo’s heart was as wide and big as his smile, always looking out for the underdog and helping those in need when he could.

He leaves to mourn his parents Pat and Sherry; sister Brooke (Justin); grandmother Marion; nephew August along with many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Bo was predeceased by his grandfathers Paul and Bill and grandmother Margaret-Ann.

A special thanks to Ashern RCMP, Paramedics, John and Karen Gray, Donna, Julie and Sandra.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Bruce Oake Memorial Foundation, B101-11 Evergreen Place, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2T9.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • I can still remember Sherry being pregnant with Bo when we worked at Tomboy Foods in Ashern. When she had him she brought him into the store for us to meet him. I remember looking at him and couldn’t get over how cute he was. His blonde hair and big blue eyes, such a beautiful baby boy. We lost touch for many years but Greg and I are saddened to hear about your precious loss. Our hearts, prayers and love go out to the both of you, Brooke and all your families. • I had the honour of meeting Bo, late 2024 and into 2025. I consider myself extremely fortunate that I can consider him a close friend and confidant. We spent many early mornings in the gym together, sharing our favourite music, stories and jokes. Although our time together would be considered short, he left a lasting impact on my life, with his kindness and empathy unmatched. He spoke about his parents in such a loving manner and I am glad I was able to meet them. We shared many inside jokes with other friends and every time we bring them up, it brings him back. I have made a donation to the Mazankowski institute in his honour. - Posted by: Douglas Krentz (Friend) on: Jun 28, 2025
