Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLLOYD ELVIN POMMER
In loving memory of Lloyd Pommer, who passed away at the age of 89 years on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in Prince George, British Columbia.
Lloyd was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by his daughter Lisa (Dean Hicks), his son Dwayne (Meghan) of Prince George and his son Brian (Josette Bérard) of Winnipeg. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren: Jared (Jordyn Deans), Alexa, Keara, Jacob and Bronwyn. He is survived by his only brother, Marvin (Virginia) of Surrey, BC and a large extended family including Aimé Meilleur, Aurel Bérard, Beatrice and Jed Mendella, Rhéal Morissette, Linda Morissette as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lloyd was predeceased by his beloved wife Aurise (née Morissette), his parents, Samuel and Emma Pommer, his parents-in-law, Armand and Elizabeth Morissette, sisters-in-law, Laura Meilleur, Armande Bérard, Rita Morissette and brother-in-law Roger Morissette.
Born in 1935, Lloyd was raised in Seven Sisters, Manitoba. He spoke fondly of his childhood there and maintained lifelong connections with his younger brother, Marvin, as well as many Altstadt and Pommer cousins. As a young man, he was athletic, outgoing and enjoyed playing sports, especially hockey, baseball and curling. After completing high school, Lloyd worked on his uncle's farm before joining the steam engine crew on the railway from Winnipeg to Churchill. He later trained and worked as a machinist in Winnipeg. Motivated by his sense of adventure, Lloyd travelled west to British Columbia, where he found employment as a boiler maker on pulp mill construction sites throughout the province.
While Lloyd and Aurise had originally met in Manitoba, they were married in Vancouver (1965) and eventually settled down in Prince George. Over the next four years, they became parents to Brian, Lisa and Dwayne. Their family shared a busy, happy life on their cattle farm in Salmon Valley and later moved to their beautiful new home on Ridgeview Drive. It was a profound loss when Aurise passed away from cancer in 1985, at the young age of 42 years. Lloyd became a single parent to their three teenage children and never remarried.
Lloyd's life was marked by his exceptional work ethic, determination, resilience and extensive knowledge, skills and experience in industrial construction. This foundation, along with his interest in business, led him to own and manage two structural steel fabrication companies: Farr Fabricating and Nechako Steel. When Lloyd finally retired at 79 years of age, he remained an avid sports fan, enjoyed cooking, gardening, swimming, socializing at the seniors centre and most importantly, cheering for his grandchildren at their various activities. For all that Lloyd accomplished in his life, he was most proud of his children and grandchildren.
Over the past four years, Lloyd lived with symptoms of dementia. His family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Paul Boutcher and the health professionals at University Hospital of Northern British Columbia and Simon Fraser Lodge for their care and compassion.
A private interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Prince George. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to the Prince George Council of Seniors.

He was a wonderful man, very nice to me, very well spoken of in the family. I lived in Wpg for 22 years as did my family. We moved back to Wpg 20 years ago, as did my parents but not my 2 brothers. I spent as much time as I could with all The Pommer family, from Otter falls, Seven Sisters, and ever so sad as they are all gone now. I knew Emma as a child, and named my daughter after her. God Bless all of you during this difficult time. Yet know that our loved ones never really leave us, and I know he is always near for you. - Posted by: Lawrence Mitchell Pommer (My dad was his cousin, I met him and his family in Regina) on: Jun 28, 2025
