Bob grew up in Winnipeg and attended Grosvenor Queenston School and Kelvin High School. He went on to study Engineering at the University of Manitoba where he won the prestigious Gold Medal. He served on the UMSU Student Council where he met his future wife June. Their first date was New Year's Eve, 1951. They were married on August 11, 1956.
They were one of the first residents of Niakwa Park and lived there for six decades. They also enjoyed summers at West Hawk Lake in their log cottage and joined the West Hawk Lake United Church congregation and were active members of the community.
After graduating University Bob worked for Westinghouse in Hamilton, Ontario after which he joined the family business, George N. Jackson Limited in Winnipeg where he worked until his retirement in 1996. He served as an inspirational leader within the company and led it to tremendous growth across Canada serving in the roles of General Manager, President, and Chairman of the Board. During his tenure he employed thousands of people and was both loved and respected for the dignity with which he treated all who crossed his path.
Bob was involved in the Canadian Amateur Swimming Association where he was a master official. He officiated at meets across Canada including the 1976 Olympics in Montreal. He was also an official for the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton as well as 1979 Pan Am Games in Puerto Rico.

At aged 88, Bob moved to Qualicum Beach, British Columbia and married Joan Brundage. Although their time was short, they shared beautiful companionship and mutual love.
His greatest role, however, was father/ grandfather. He was always the voice of wisdom and he was willing to share his knowledge and expertise with family. His love of his grandchildren was infinite as Bob savoured his time with each of them. They were unconditionally loved.

Sincere condolences to all who mourn Mr. Jackson’s passing. I worked for only a short time in a replacement capacity, but my then husband, Bruce Holland, served the company for many years. We both held the company, its executives & other employees in highest esteem. We were expected to conduct ourselves with excellence both personally and professionally. It was an expectation each one tried to meet. Doug, Lorne, thank you for your contribution to my life. I wish you peace & comfort as you strive to deal with your many losses over the years. RIP Bob, June & Ken. Perhaps we’ll meet again. - Posted by: Caroline (Holland) Stevenson (Former employee) on: Jul 02, 2025
