Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGARY WAYNE KENT
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Wayne Kent on August 9, 2025, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 75.
Born September 25, 1949, to Lloyd and Eileen Kent, Gary grew up in Manitoba with his brother Bryon. He was the devoted husband of Lynn, loving father to Jeff Kent, the late Craig Kent and Jill (Geoff) Gray.
Gary is also remembered by his sister-in-law Terry Kent; niece and nephew Allison Kent and Steve Kent; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob and Joan Peachey; and nephews Todd (Jan), Greg (Cindy), and Jay (Jan) Peachey. He especially enjoyed fishing trips in British Columbia with Bob Peachey - times filled with laughter and stories.
Gary served as President of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, coached his sons in hockey, and was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge. Summers were spent at the Granite Hills cottage he built with Bryon, and winters in Tucson, Arizona golfing with Lynn and friends.
A Construction Engineering Technologist, Gary worked with Bird Construction, Ellice Don Construction, and FWS Construction. He took special pride in his work on Winnipeg’s renowned Level four Virology Laboratory.
Gary will be remembered for his good humor, caring nature, and steadfast spirit. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of St. Boniface Hospital, especially the Cardiac Unit and the Renal Dialysis Unit, for their exceptional care and compassion.
A celebration of life will be held September 4, 2025, - 11:00 a.m. at Charleswood United Church - 4820 Roblin Blvd.

Hello Lynn: Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Gary. I had the privilege of working with him when he was President of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Gary was a friend and a great leader. He was a true inspiration to the volunteers and staff who served alongside him. Take care and find strength during this difficult time. Another LR boy gone far too soon. Fond memories of being coached in baseball 'by Gary's Dad, which did not discourage Gary from providing his own, often humorous advice to our fellow players. Lost touch over the years but saw him not long ago at Stevie Jones service. Hope he is up there talking ball with Steve and their fathers who coached us. Miss them all. Dear Lynn and family, Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Gary. As with so many in our CF family, we shared a depth of friendship that could skip over "superficial pleasantries" and get straight to the heart of what's important in this life. I always admired you and Gary so very much, and I join many others in gratitude for the work you both did on behalf of our loved ones living with CF and beyond.
