It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Wieslawa Motyka on September 1, 2025, at Holy Family Home, at the age of 84.
Wieslawa was born on March 31, 1941, in Poland. In 1961, she married the love of her life, Karol Motyka, and together they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. She immigrated to Canada in 1983 in hopes of creating a better life for her family.
Though she worked tirelessly throughout her life as a seamstress, Wieslawa found true joy in her garden and, above all, in the company of her loved ones. She worked hard to keep Polish traditions alive, and she especially cherished large family gatherings, finding any occasion a reason to celebrate together. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting aroma of her care.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Karol, her parents, and her brother and sister. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Teador Motyka (Margaret), Anna Lehner (Garry), Margaret Musick (Philip), and Tom Motyka (Michelle). She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Christopher (Larize), Nick (Brittany), Chantelle, Daniel, Larysa (Cody), Conrad, Cassandra (James), and Shane, and her great-grandson Cedric, who brought her endless joy.
Wieslawa will also be deeply missed by her brother-in-law Ryszard Motyka (Genowefa), her sister-in-law Stanislawa Tokarz, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends in both Poland and Canada.
Her life was one of quiet strengths, hard work, and unwavering love for her family. She will be remembered for her generosity, her resilience, and the legacy of care, tradition, and kindness she leaves behind.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Cemetery, 4387 Main Street. Rosary prayer and viewing will start at 9:30 a.m.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Holy Family Home, especially the Sacred Heart Unit, for their compassionate and dedicated care.
Wieslawa’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
