Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGRACE ELIZABETH QUINN
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Grace Elizabeth Quinn (née Connery), age 98, on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
She leaves behind daughters, Carol (Lloyd) Landgraff, Diane (Doug) Bodnar, Barb Kreitz and stepsons, Rick (Susan) Quinn and Chris Quinn. Also, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Jack Quinn, her parents, Ellen and Bob Connery and her son-in-law Brian Kreitz.
Grace was born October 8, 1926, in Winnipeg. After her first marriage ended, Grace’s mother joined the family to look after the home while Grace returned to work full-time at the Hudson Bay Company. Grace's eye for beauty and her desire to learn more earned her the recognition and opportunity to be sponsored by The Bay and accepted into the Art Institute of Chicago’s Interior Design Program. Grace carved out the time and energy to successfully complete the course by remote learning, assignments and exams. She then went on to help set up The Bay’s first and very successful interior design department where she served clients from across the province until her retirement in 1991.
She proudly learned to drive and bought her first car in 1974, with the support and driving lessons from her son-in-law Doug.
Grace and her husband Jack enjoyed a wonderful 35 years together. They loved bowling, travelling, golfing, boating, music and family. And, of course, Grace always loved her bingo nights!
While Grace was mostly known as a professional working woman long before it was fashionable or readily accepted by society, her family saw so much more and proudly appreciated the role model she created as the matriarch of her family. She taught through example to believe in ourselves and work towards our goals even when it would be easier to quit. She modelled love and caring as the strength of our family unit, perseverance through hard times and the joy of sharing in whatever success any of us had.
We wish to sincerely thank these two organizations that have played such an important part in her care and comfort over the past eight years since her major stroke in 2017. The Thorvaldson Care Centre on Stradbrook Avenue and the West Park Manor on Grant Avenue.
A private family service has been held, but the family would certainly encourage you to honour Grace with a contribution in her name to either of these worthy senior care homes or a health organization of your choice.
We close this brief remembrance of our Mother’s amazing life with our absolute gratitude for all the love and memories she leaves with us to hold dear forever.
