MICHAEL JACK MUNDRICK

November 26, 1946 - July 21, 2025

Sadly, after a lengthy illness, Mike passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital.

He leaves behind his wife Sonia, sisters, Pat Harper (late husband Richard) of St. Cloud, Minnesota and Teresa Lytle of Winnipeg, nephews, nieces and greats. Mike was predeceased by his father Michael in 1973 and his mother Jean in 1987.

Mike spent most of life in Morse Place. He attended schools in the area including Miles Macdonell Collegiate. Being quite an athlete at a young age, he was both an exceptional hockey and baseball player. His participation ended when he was diagnosed with tuberculosis. Mike's hospital stay for tuberculosis was lengthy and his sister Pat was a frequent visitor after her days at work. Although Pat eventually moved to the United States, she remained very close and a loyal sister throughout Mike's life.

Mike had close relations with many people in his social network of friends. He was an usher and best man at several weddings. Spending summers at Grand Beach with friends were especially memorable events for him. And there was a core group of lifelong friends Mike considered family. This "family" included Mike Colvin, Rick Kosmick, Lorne Kostynyk, Gerry Pestun, Bruce Quesnel, Lloyd Schreyer and Brian Ulph.

Although mainly self employed, Mike was considered a jack of all trades. One of his interesting jobs included travelling all over Canada and the United States working the carnival midways.

One particular passion for Mike was fishing. An avid fisherman, he would be on the water from early morning until sunset. He enjoyed the fly-in trips to northern Manitoba. A favourite place was Pointe du Bois.

Mike had 45 years of membership with Prince Edward Legion #81. It was a special meeting place for him to make new acquaintances and spend time with old friends.

Sonia was Mike's partner for over 50 years. As Sonia's health deteriorated in the last few years, he diligently provided daily care. However, Mike's health declined significantly in his last few months whereby he could no longer care for Sonia in their home. He focused on having all things in order and finding a home where Sonia would be well looked after. Thanks to Park Manor Care Home.

Mike was grateful for the in-home care he received from the St. Boniface Palliative Department.

Mike especially wanted to thank his very good friend Rick Kosmick.

People who knew Mike well recognized his sharp intellect, dry wit and wonderful voice. His presence will be truly missed.

Mike, your spirit remains with us.

Rest well.

Cremation has taken place. As per Mike's wishes, no service will be held. Donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or Alzheimer Society of Manitoba if one so wishes.
