We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Gina Therese Somers, on September 21, 2025 after a courageous 14 month battle with cancer.
Gina was born August 4, 1969 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She graduated from Maples Collegiate in 1986 and later attended Red River College. She was a lifelong learner and always wanted to know the "why" of things.
Gina was loyal, empathetic and had a generous nature. She loved her family above all else.
Gina leaves behind to mourn her mother and father, Donna and Eugene Somers; sisters, Karen (Mike) and Darlene (Derek); nephews, Marcus, Aaron and Nicholas; niece Adeline; and Uncle Doug (Gladys); a large extended family in Nova Scotia; and many friends.
At Gina’s request, cremation has already taken place and a Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date.

Dear Family, Donna- Eugene- Karen- Darlene and Families I am so sorry for Gina's passing. Her obituary was so well portrayed giving insight to her rewarding life and having such strength facing her battles. Gina you are now probably finding new ways to see what you can do to involve yourself with others as you did in your lifetime. We know you are not alone having all of our families waiting for you. Say Hi to your Uncle Bobby and your Cousin Robert for me. Oh how they are missed. Knowing they are not alone has been a comfort to me. Gina no one knows of the real physical pain you must have endured unless they have been through it. My Sincere Condolences with Love to all. The pictures are lovely having noticed a few with memories of Halifax before making a home in Winnipeg. I am so sorry to hear of Gina's passing. So young.....she was a good salesperson, kind, conscientious, and customer-focused.
