In Loving Memory
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Vokey, who left us on October 8, 2025, at the age of 73.
Gary is survived by his wife of 45 years Vicki, their children, Melissa (Doug), David, Vanessa (James) and two grandchildren, Ruby and Gunnar, along with many other friends and loved ones. He was predeceased by his parents, Rayfield Sr. and Florence, and his infant brother, Douglas.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he grew up in St. Boniface with his parents and five brothers, Rayfield, Bob, Wayne, David, and Kenneth. He was shy growing up, but always had a creative side and a passion for cars. His first loves were his many vehicles, until Vicki came along, followed by their three children.
Gary worked in many different industries throughout the years, but always found his way back to the insurance industry. No matter where he worked, he easily made friends and relationships with colleagues and clients. All those who met Gary will remember him for his goofy sense of humour. He could get anyone laughing and he never took life too seriously.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His spirit will live on in our hearts, our memories and in the everyday moments that remind us of him.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital and CancerCare (Victoria Hospital) for their care and kindness.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place with a Celebration of Life to occur at a later date.

My condolences to Gary's family and loved ones. Gary and I were best friends during our younger years on Eugenie St. We met when we collided our trikes. Sounds about right! We played cars for hours, made model cars, built a push cart together, shared a paper route and camped during the summers. Gary always made me laugh. He was a good soul and I am lucky that I had the opportunity to hang out and grow up with him. Gary has a very talented graphic artist especially with cars. He loved and felt comfort being around cars. I remember one night picking him up at the end of a shift at a service station, on our way to meet girls and I said 'Gary you reek of gas' and he replied 'I know isn't it great. I just love it'. Maybe we will meet again 'down the road' Tom - Posted by: Tom Muir (Childhood friend) on: Oct 19, 2025
