HASSAN AYED
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hassan Ayed in Toronto at the age of 89.
Hassan was born on April 12, 1936, in 'Innaba, Palestine and became a child refugee in 1948.
After completing his matriculation in a refugee camp in Jericho, he left for Germany to work, sending life-sustaining support to his immediate family.
In 1965, Hassan returned to Jericho to marry Nariman Ghandour, and they only recently marked their 60th marriage anniversary.
Together they moved to Germany briefly, before emigrating to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1966.
As early immigrants of Palestinian origin in Winnipeg, Hassan and Nariman were pioneers, proud Canadians and hard-working partners in every facet of life, together raising four successful children.
Hassan is survived by his wife, Nariman, his children, Ayeda, Nahlah, Ayed (Fatima), Abdullah (Monica), grandchildren, Hamza, Hassan and Iman.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Hassan’s name to support displaced children in Gaza through your preferred charitable organization.
A celebration of life is being planned. Details to follow

Dear Ayeda, Please accept my condolences in this difficult time. Although I never had the opportunity to meet your father, I recall you speaking to me about him when we were colleagues at the U of M and I know you held him in high regard. I hope your memories of him will give you strength in this difficult time. Guy - Posted by: Guy Bernard (Friend) on: Nov 17, 2025
