Our beloved Muriel Gambrel (née Plohman), passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the age of 91.
Muriel was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Jim, in 2021; her parents, Muriel and Hans Plohman; stepmother Anne and brothers Jim and Carl.
Muriel will be deeply missed by her children, Kathy and Steve (Alanna) and grandchildren, Tyler, Adam and Alexis.
Muriel is also survived by siblings John (Pat), Gary (Shaunda), Grant (Judy), Lorna (Ron); sisters-in-law Gloria and Shirley and many other family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their compassionate care over the past four years.
A celebration of Muriel’s life will take place on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at the Cropo Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

I didn’t have the privilege of knowing Muriel as closely as many others did, but even so, she left a lasting impression on me. They were closer to my mom, who was Jimmy’s cousin, and it wasn’t until they started researching our family , that I was able to meet them and get to know them. Muriel carried herself with a warmth and grace and it was clear how deeply she and Jimmy cared for one another.
