Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Elizabeth and John were dear friends of my parents for decades. We remember with gratitude the positive contribution they made to the world, and we hold their family in our thoughts. 🙏 - Posted by: Mel Roman (Family friend) on: Nov 16, 2025

  • I'm so very sorry for the loss of your dear mother and grandmother, Elisabeth - a very special lady whom I fondly remember especially during my youth at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Winnipeg. One of my special memories was when your dad, Pastor Kunkel, brought our confirmation class out to Fulmer's camp for a Thanksgiving weekend. As you know, it was run by his friend and operated off the grid... we got off the train in the dark and made our way to the cabins with oil lamps. Elisabeth and my dear mom, Kay Roman, came along to cook for us all weekend, using a wood stove as they did in their youth. It was a lot of work for them, but they did so with love, joy, and an adventurous spirit. We were well fed indeed...We kids only had to do the dishes. It was a very special thanksgiving weekend that I often think back on. Your mom was a real sport, enjoyed the outdoors and youth, and was a true and dedicated life partner for your dear father. I regret that I won't be able to attend the Celebration of Life in February as I will be away. May she rest in peace, and rise in glory. - Posted by: Rhonda L Roman (one of St. Stephen's flock) on: Nov 16, 2025
