It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Christos on Thursday, November 15, 2025, at the age of 83.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty, daughter Deena, son John (Laurel) and granddaughter Kristina, as well as his twin brother Steve (Nefeli) and their children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Vasalia, in Greece along with many nieces and nephews in Greece.
Christos was predeceased by his parents Yiannis and Akindina and brother-in-law Stratis.
Christos was born on September 14, 1942, in a small village named Pamfila on the island of Mytilini (Lesbos) in Greece. He served in the army for 3 years until immigrating to Canada in 1965 to join his brother who had already settled into a very cold city, with many job opportunities.
Shortly after arriving into a new country, with new cultures and a language he couldn’t speak, along came Betty, a Winnipegger who didn’t know a word of Greek, but even with the language barrier they made it work, and that is when their love story began. They married in 1971, and 2 children soon followed. Christos began his lifelong trade as a welder at CCIL and then moved to CPR, where he worked until he retired at age 65.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, best Dad and proudest Pappou!
The funeral will be held at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church at Grant and Shaftsbury on Thursday, November 20 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
